For the past six months, I’ve had the chance to work with an amazing crew from all over the country, alongside @creativetheoryagency and our partners at @google on something that really means a lot to me.

This was more than just a project.

We told the story of Dr. Marian Croak, someone whose work changed how we connect every day. The tech she helped build is behind how we talk, meet, and show up for each other daily.

What stuck with me most is how human her work is. Over 200 patents, but also a real focus on access and connection.

As a director, this is exactly the kind of story I want to tell.

I’m proud of what we made and really grateful for everyone who was part of it. This crew showed up in a big way.

So I surprised my son with tickets to @wwe Monday Night Raw last night, and this is how it turned out.

I take full responsibility for introducing him to wrestling. It’s a form of sports entertainment that captivated me when I was his age, and now watching him become fully immersed in it has given us another way to bond.

Seeing the joy, excitement, and pure wonder it brings him fills my heart in a way that’s hard to describe. These are the moments I’ll cherish forever, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world. taken in CFG Bank Arena by @tmillerfilms

Every Google Meet and Zoom call. Every FaceTime and every voice note. That’s Dr. Marian Rogers Croak’s legacy.

We made a short film about her. Now it’s shortlisted for a People’s Telly Award and we need the community to show up.

Dr. Croak is one of the first two Black women inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame and the woman behind technology billions of people use every single day. She helped weave the fabric of the internet as we know it. Her story deserved to be told right, and the next generation deserves to know her name.

We are grateful to the Google team for trusting us with it. Telling her story was a privilege. Having it recognized is something else entirely. Now we need you to push us across the finish line.

Going into this film, it was important to center the human side of the story. Not just the work, but the people around it, Marian’s family, her “why.”

So we tried to capture that in a way that felt real and unfiltered while honoring her story.

‘The Art of Possible’ is a documentary celebrating the legacy and ongoing work of Dr. Marian Rogers Croak; a pioneer whose journey was shaped by the family, mentors, colleagues, and collaborators who fueled her curiosity and drive to innovate.

A trailblazer in modern communications, Dr. Croak pioneered Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), the literal technology powering every internet calls, RIGHT NOW, she holds over 200 patents, and created critical applications like text-to-donate. Today, she leads teams at Google Research at the intersection of deep technology and societal impact, ensuring innovation is built on human-centric foundations to drive equitable, globally accessible AI.

Produced in partnership with Google and directed by Trivell Miller, this film was two years in the making. It explores how curiosity, collaboration, and vision can shape the future — and leave a legacy that inspires the next generation to believe that the way things are does not have to be the way things will be. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this vision to life across 5 states! ✨
