Our position is that Article 21 rights (right to life and right to dignity) of the oppressed trump Article 19 rights (freedom of expression) of the oppressors. by @tmrf.sa

As mainstream media does calculations of our surgery costs in 2026, tries to figure out how to articulate stories outside "human interest" about trans people, and runs out of liberal pundits to write think pieces on the act-

Some news about recommendations submitted to the Asha committee. The advisory committee set up by the Supreme Court of India to recommend equal opportunity policy, grievance redressal mechanisms etc under the unamended 2019 act.

TISRC (@tisr.c) TMRF (@tmrf.sa) and VOIS (@intersex.india) are likely to formally release and discuss the recommendations in the coming days.

The South Asian Trans Muslim Rights Forum (TMRF.SA) is organizing a virtual community consultation with queer, trans*, non-binary, and gender-diverse Muslims from across India and Kashmir as part of the broader Asha Committee Report process, a collaborative initiative being undertaken by a coalition of community-based organizations.

As part of its contribution to the coalition's work, TMRF.SA is facilitating consultations focused on the experiences, concerns, needs, and recommendations of queer and trans Muslim communities.

In view of the security, privacy, and confidentiality concerns faced by many queer and trans Muslim individuals, this will be a closed-door consultation exclusively for queer, trans*, non-binary, and gender-diverse Muslims. Participation will be by registration only. Access details and the meeting link will be shared via email with confirmed participants.

On 22nd April 2026 we have sent the following open representation to the Hon'ble Justice Asha Menon Committee. The Committee has been set up by order of the Supreme Court to submit a detailed consultative report on securing fully the rights of transgender, gender diverse and intersex communities. Further to sending the letter we are publishing a Google Form with the full text of the letter seeking nominations from community members and activists, especially those most oppressed by caste, class, disability, religion and/or region within the community towards participating in this process, if we are successful in our efforts with the Committee. We are posting the Google form in the stories, link in bio.

[Repost for better readability] Queries on immediate concerns for trans, Intersex & enby community in the aftermath of trans amendment bill 2026, enacted into law.

This is an evolving document based only on the questions we have received so far. Please send us any further points you want us to cover via email or Instagram. We will update the document.

We have received first-hand accounts from Bangalore and TN communities that some lawyers have given mis misleading information on access to medical/healthcare and criminalising provisions to community members. So while you consult professionals, please also cross-check with community members. Please send any queries you have, and we will also make every effort to cross-check.

Many of us are panicking, highly anxious and have no information on what will happen next. Take some deep breaths, hug, kiss and cuddle, pick up the phone and call other people (especially that trans, NB and/or intersex person you have lost touch with, been isolated by groups or NGOs, or just lives far away).

This is the time for us to hold each other close and find loopholes that ensure our survival. We address these questions below in the document you can request for (not gate-keeping but for security reasons). Email or inbox for full doc.

1. Can people still change their legal gender markers under the Trans Act 20267

2. Can trans, NB and intersex people still access hormones and surgeries?

3. Are transmen, transwomen, transmasculine, transfeminine and gender diverse persons other than those listed in the definition affected under the current criminalizing provisions?

4. Can I be arrested for housing a trans or intersex person?

5. What happens to existing TG cards issued under the Trans Act 20197

6. What happens to the validity of transgender persons who are married or wish to run away, move out of marry?

7. What happens to the admissions, recruitments and whatever other hare minimum government services or facilities trans people currently have access to? by @tmrf.sa

We don’t need better classification. We need less of it.
A short critique of the anthropological gaze & identarian obsession, by TMRFSA. by @tmrf.sa

The Trans-Intersex Self-Respect Coalition is a group of trans, non-binary, gender diverse and intersex persons who are concerned by the dilution of the single demand for the unconditional withdrawal of the trans bill 2026.

While it is important to speak of identities and experiences, in this fight of legality and constitutionality, it is most important to show that the Trans Bill 2026 is an exact and entire reproduction of the Criminal Tribes Act 1871 (Part ii: Eunuchs).

As such we request the various members of the Reject TRANS bill movement to come together on this and focus educational and other material on this simple and unquestionable fact. That this government cannot bring back a colonial law already repealed for being unconstitutional.

We are soon hoping to publish a resource document containing our best answers (some authoritative statements, some educated guesses) to some of the concerns raised by the trans and intersex communities.

We recognise the founder of the self respect path to the trans struggle as artist/activist Living Smile Vidya and send her our love and thanks. We are committed to a collective evolving politics founded on Babasaheb Ambedkar and Thanthai Periyar

Please educate, organize and agitate, with us! More soon. Hul Johar, Jai Bhim, Jai Savitri - Always self-respect first! by @tmrf.sa
