A dream deferred is NEVER a dream denied. From driving Uber to support his wife through law school, to being hooded by her as a fellow Thurgood Marshall School of Law graduate! 🎓⚖️For Robert E. May Jr., the path to becoming an attorney wasn't a straight line, but a journey built on faith, hard work, and a phenomenal support system.When Robert and his wife, attorney Shaneil Snipe-May, first arrived in Houston in 2020 for her to attend TMSL, Robert did whatever it took to support them, including driving for Uber and outdoor sales. But standing on the campus of Texas Southern University, inspired by the giants who walked before him, Robert knew he belonged here, too. With his wife's emotional support, he took the leap.At the Spring 2026 TMSL Hooding Ceremony, their journey came full circle in the most beautiful way: Shaneil had the honor of hooding Robert as he graduated from their shared alma mater. Robert’s story is a testament to #TMSLlove and the power of community. He leaves TMSL as a former 2L Class President, an award-winning mock trial advocate, and a future litigation attorney at Clarke Law PLLC.As Robert says: “Protect it. Improve it. The Office of Career & Professional Development has been on fire 🔥 this semester, bringing students direct access to attorneys, program directors, and career pathways! If you missed out, here is a recap of OCPD’s latest events. 🔹 A Day in the Life with Enbridge Law — Students heard from in-house Enbridge attorneys about practicing oil & gas law and learned about Enbridge scholarship and internship opportunities.🔹 Things I Wish I Knew as a Summer Associate, a Spring 2026 Lunch & Learn Series with Alston & Bird — From former summer associates now practicing in Dallas and Atlanta to litigation partners outlining what it takes to earn an offer, students received the blueprint for successful internships at Alston & Bird. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office, in partnership with the TMSL Office of Career & Professional Development (OCPD) brought its Black History Month moment to Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where students heard firsthand from Black prosecutors about their journeys, their experiences in the courtroom, and what to expect as future interns. Students also learned about the many opportunities available within the office — and had the chance to personally connect with Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare.Moderated by Mock Trial Champion DeAndre Bell, 3L.
