🌘Welcome home Goober!
🤍 In memory of Toad 2017-2025
POSTS STORIES REELS
🖤 We adopted Goober! 🖤 We temp fostered this darling boy for a week over the summer, and as fate would have it, he has come back to us… this time to stay 🥹 We had not planned to adopt again, and Goober had left our home to go to a wonderful foster-to-adopt this summer. But we never stopped thinking of him, and when we heard that his family had made the difficult decision to not go forward with adoption, we found ourselves saying “we will adopt him” without a moment’s hesitation. In many ways he feels like the yin to Toad’s yang, the deepest black dark side of the moon to Toad’s luminous white light, two unique and beautiful halves of the same whole. We learned he was in need of a home again on the anniversary of Toad’s passing, one year to the day, and we knew it was meant to be. 🌕🌖🌗🌘🌑 Goober cannot be around other dogs (the scars on his body and his extreme reactivity to other dogs tell a story of pain and fear), so we are concluding our chapter of fostering. We will never forget each sweet soul that came through our doors. They healed our hearts and helped us find the courage to take the leap of faith that made our family whole again. Please join us in welcoming Goober home, he is already so loved 🖤 by @toadthebulldog
Princeton flies to his forever home on Thursday! We wish we could have carried him across the finish line ourselves, but we couldn’t be more grateful for the way this community came together for this precious boy. He will be joining his new mama, a veterinarian, and his new sisters, a frenchie and kitty, in Texas to begin a beautiful new life together 🫶 Thanks to everyone who shared about him, wished him well, and donated to help him get there 🥰 It truly takes a village, with each of us giving what we can, and others stepping up to fill in the gaps. This foster promise is for Princeton: Your “forever” comes from a great many whose love for you will bring you home by @toadthebulldog
Sweetest Princeton is seeking a new foster! We had planned to foster Princeton for the long haul, but something has come up in our lives unexpectedly. Be assured, it’s something important, otherwise we wouldn’t interrupt Princeton’s foster journey. We will share about it in good time. Thank you for your understanding 🫶 We will be bringing Princeton back to the rescue in Las Vegas, and he will be seeking a new foster in the Las Vegas area. He’s a very good boy who loves other dogs, and fostering is a wonderful experience (you just provide the home and the love, rescue provides the food, supplies, and veterinary care). Please share, and if you’re thinking of fostering him, reach out to @retiredtorescue 🫶 We appreciate you all 🙏🐆👑 by @toadthebulldog
Dropping adoptable Princeton’s Halloween costume early, with a special request: if you have $10 to spare, would you join me in donating to @retiredtorescue today? A couple of Princeton’s rescue buddies in Las Vegas need some medical care, and we would love to help them. We are matching the first $50 donated from our community here! I’ll share the donation link in stories. Thank you everyone! 🐲🐉🀄️👑 by @toadthebulldog
Answers to FAQ about Princeton: •Age - young, estimated 2-3 yrs old •Male - neutered •Size - 21 lbs (easy to lift, likes to be held and carried) •IVDD - he has limited hind limb function, but he is able to walk and play despite minimal use of his hind legs •Potty - he is incontinent. He can’t control when he pees or poops, so he wears diapers. He does NOT need to have his bladder expressed. I change him 4x day (breakfast, lunch, dinner, bedtime) and I give him about 4 hrs of diaper-free “air time” on a washable mat each morning in my home office. •Pain - fortunately, he doesn’t appear to have any pain in his spine •Health - apart from his IVDD, he’s a healthy boy! He came into rescue with some challenges - ear infection, itchy skin, paw wounds - but now he’s feeling good and looking beautiful thanks to some TLC! His ears are clear, his allergies improved with a cytopoint injection and switching to a limited ingredient diet, and his paw wounds are almost completely healed. He breathes very well for a bulldog. He’s doing great 😊 •Diet - Nulo limited ingredient kibble 2x/day. He’s a hearty eater! He uses an elevated bowl for feeding and he stands himself up in his own way. •Social - he has always lived with other dogs and I can tell he’s a bit lonely here as an “only”. He would love to have a dog buddy or two, around his size, to play with! •Future care - it would be ideal to keep him in weekly physical therapy and/or home exercises to work toward improving his hind end mobility. I think he would do well in a wheelchair too, and I’ll be talking to the vet about it on Friday! •Adoption - available to adopt anywhere in the US and Canada. Too large to fly in a carrier, but he can fly in cabin on JSX, or he can drive (he is a great roadtrip companion! He was a perfect passenger on the way to San Diego from Vegas). If you have other Qs, ask in comments or DM me anytime! 🐆👑🩵🤎🖤 by @toadthebulldog
It’s safe to say that our foster, Princeton, is coming out of his shell (it just happens to be an alligator egg 🐊) This silly reptile is adoptable anywhere in the US and Canada, apply at @retiredtorescue (if you dare!) by @toadthebulldog
Our little foster pumpkin, Princeton, is dreaming of his forever home! It’s a season of big dreams for him, and we need your help to make them come true. Please share about him far and wide, I just know he’s the missing piece for a family out there. He would thrive in a home with a doggy buddy or two 🐾 I’ve got lots of Princeton info saved in a highlight, and you can DM me anytime with questions 👑🐆🩵🤎 Thanks for being part of his journey 🫶 by @toadthebulldog
Princeton is looking for his forever home! 🫶 Please share far and wide 🫶 Princeton is a young male French bulldog with beautiful coloring (leopard spots, colorful eyes!) and a truly gentle disposition. He is fostering with us here in SoCal but he is adoptable anywhere in the US 🇺🇸 and Canada🇨🇦. 🐾 Apply at @retiredtorescue 🐾 He would do best in a home with another dog or dogs. He’s used to having buddies and enjoys playing with similar sized pups. It takes him a little time to come out of his shell, but your patience will be rewarded when he scoots into your lap for a snuggle. He has IVDD and currently has limited mobility in his hind limbs. We are hopeful that he will gain some functional mobility with PT. He wears diapers because of incontinence, but he’s easy to care for. He is wonderfully cooperative when you change his diapers, patiently waiting while you care for him, and he expresses his gratitude with the occasional tiny smooch, or resting his noggin on you. He has a silly side that is just beginning to show. He likes to rumble around with a toy, rolling himself like a barrel. Whoever adopts him will get to experience the joy of helping him blossom into his silliest self. Princeton’s needs look a little bit different, but the bond you will form with him will be extraordinary. He’s so sweet and gentle, and the adopter who wins his heart will be in for a treat, because I think he’s been holding a lot of love inside for when he finds his forever family. Your reposts and shares will help him find his forever home, so please spread the word about this adoptable cutie! Thank you! 🗞️💌📋📲📣 by @toadthebulldog
Welcome Princeton! 👑🐾 We took a roadtrip to Las Vegas this weekend to pick up our 5th foster of 2026. It was a treat to see Amanda and the adoptables of @retiredtorescue, and to get all the pup snuggles! Princeton is a young male French bulldog who has mobility differences and incontinence. He has been gaining mobility in PT, which we will continue here in California 💪 He is adoptable anywhere in the US and Canada, and we look forward to hosting him for the coziest season, as his foster family. He’s already warming up to us, and I have a feeling he will be a certified love bug once he settles in! Can’t wait to share about him with all of you 🫶 by @toadthebulldog
Sharing some images from our trip to Japan with a reminder that fostering and traveling are not mutually exclusive. This summer, we temp fostered for short windows because of our travel plans. It was a great way to have certainty around our plans and still help dogs in need. If you long-term foster, you can still travel too, because the rescue can help set up temp fosters for your travel dates. So if you’ve been thinking of fostering, but you want to keep room on your calendar for travel, let this post be your encouragement! You can do it all 🫶🐾 by @toadthebulldog
Billie and Finneas have an Instagram account now! Follow their cuteness over at @finnrollsbillstrolls 🫶 These two cuties are absolutely thriving in Canada. I could not be more grateful for their wonderful family and the beautiful life they are living now. I’ll be excited to see all of their antics and adventures 🤎🖤 by @toadthebulldog
Goober news! 🗞️🥹🎈 This beautiful boy left our home today, not to return to boarding, but to join his forever family! This would not have been possible without all of you sharing his story so his sweet face could be seen by his people, so thank you all, truly. Goober has to get a small procedure to remove a lump that we discovered in his armpit, so he joins his new family as a “foster-to-adopt” to allow the rescue to provide his medical care. Even with this unexpected wrinkle, there was no hesitation on their part. To see his new family’s heartfelt commitment to be there for him for whatever he needs has been a beautiful sight. Sometimes the universe delivers us to exactly where we need to be at the exact moment we need to be there. I’m so proud of this little community for helping to make this happen. I have no doubt Goober will thrive with the love and support of his new family, and I’m so excited for him to begin the best chapter of his life - the one where he’s right where he belongs 🖤 by @toadthebulldog
