Introducing Maple 🦛🍁

Canada’s newest little cutie is growing bigger and getting more adorable by the day. From wobbly little walks to curious sniffs and those tiny ears (ugh, those little ear wiggles get me EVERY time), she's completely stolen our hearts.

And while we know everyone is eager to meet her, she isn’t viewable to zoo guests just yet. She’s spending this time with mom, growing strong, and getting used to her new world, and keepers, behind the scenes.

It's been a wild ride. (No pun intended.)

Last week I took part in my 15 year Marine Bio reunion. To be honest, I'm not where I saw myself... Today, I am some place so. much. better.

From tropical reefs to arctic tundra, I've covered a lot of ground over the past 15 years. As the girl that wanted to be diving with sharks and dolphins in warm water, I NEVER in a million years saw myself doing a complete 180 and working with terrestrial, cold climate critters. BUT it turned out to be my happy place and has led to some pretty incredible opportunities❤️

Enjoy this little montage of highlights from my last 15 years inspiring others to care for our planet.

Nom. Nom. Nom. 🥬

At almost 3 months old, Maple is still nursing but has started dabbling in the world of solid foods. From dandelion greens and romaine lettuce to hay cubes, she’s getting curious about what mom Kindia is eating. And of course, everything needs a little taste test.

Holiday shopping inspo, but make it a room full of brands (and a questionable toothpaste stain on my pants). 😂

Had the best time checking out @swervestrategic's Let's Play Holiday Toy Showcase at @thesymesca in the Junction!

If you’re already thinking about holiday gifts for the kids (or just trying to get ahead of the December chaos), there were SO many good ones. Bonus: most are available at Walmart and Amazon.ca!

Did you spot her? 👀🦛

Being this cute and popular is exhausting work. 😂💤

Just a girl and her rubber duck. 💚

It may look like all play every day, but enrichment is an important part of animal care. Providing animals with opportunities to explore, play, investigate, and problem-solve encourages natural behaviours, keeps them mentally stimulated and adds variety to their daily routines. Sometimes, the simplest things can make for the most engaging, and extremely cute, moments.

A few recent @amazonca finds that have helped turn our bedroom into the cozy, functional space we actually want to spend time in. 💤

1. Washable area rug
The colour & pattern are so good, and it’s actually soft under your feet. Win.

2. Waffle duvet cover
Love the subtle texture and sage colour. It works so well with the rug without everything feeling too matchy-matchy.

3. Cooling fitted sheet
The corner elastics that actually help keep the sheet in place?! Why isn’t this standard?!

4. Storage bed frame
Still one of my favourite purchases. Just LOOK at all that storage! And it’s surprisingly easy to open too.

Want the links? Comment “BEDROOM” and I’ll send you my list!

And don’t forget, Amazon Prime Big Deal Days are October 6 & 7! 👀

This cuteness deserves a permanent spot on the feed 🦛💚

At 2 months old, Maple has started to dabble in some 'independence' (aka doesn't want to leave the pool), but is still sticking close to her mama.

Parenting a 10-year-old girl is a trip. One minute she wants to go to Lululemon, the next she’s sitting on the floor playing with dolls. Somewhere between wanting to be a teenager and still being my little girl. 🥹💕

The in-between years are a whole different kind of chaos. 😂 My mom would probably tell me this chaos is payback.
