With the incredibly exciting news that “Ser Semilla” got selected for the Graduation films Competition at @annecyfestival !!!!
I almost fainted from the news (and cried a little jaja). This film was possible thanks to all the people who me echaron porras, supported me, listened to me endlessly, and who challenged my thoughts throughout (a mis amigas, mi familia and my professors -always so deeply grateful for you 💕). To @mattis_appelqvist for the music, and @yarcuof for the sound, to @roza_zik and @el_malolo for lending your talents, a @macaria.r por darle aliento a las mujeres del bosque y a @polo_mares por el color: the short wouldn’t be what it is without you! And to @re.anima.emjmd for giving me the time, structure, support and allowing me to meet so many wonderful people throughout the 2 years.
So exciting and see you in France in June!

Coming with the crazy news that Ser Semilla will screen at @semaine_de_la_critique at a special program out of competition with the invitation from @ficm !!!!
And not only that, but I will be also attending to the Cannes market thanks to the invitation from @giffmx

Agradezco profundamente a los festivales mexicanos, que apoyan a cineastas mexicanas y que están haciendo posible esta experiencia!!
Can’t believe how far and wide this seed is flying 🌸💕🌻

Back when I was in @atbennington twirling and dancing and discovering what I could do in animation.
And yes, I made the audience get up and scream with me before the performance. by @toasted__bean

📍𝗖𝗢𝗧𝗠 2️⃣3️⃣ is curated by @toasted__bean 🖊️
🎨💿📚 Julia Granillo shares with us her passion for Aoko Matsuda’s ‘Where the Wild Ladies Are’ — a short story collection that revisits Japanese ghost tales with humor and a feminist twist. 🇯🇵 Blending the supernatural, social satire, and contemporary everyday life, the author gives voice to women — sometimes human, sometimes spectral — to question norms, relationships, and women’s place in society. 👸🏻

For this project I’m also playing with different dances from both India and Mexico - this was made with the help from Kathak dancers. And once more @andres_volkov in the music side of it all (playing with the idea of how the music between the countries could converse and infuse each other)
Again a 2d hand drawn animation with natural pigments and colored pencils ✨
