One of the highlights of 2026 (maybe ever) was the @grandraidbcvs from Verbier to Grimentz in Switzerland covering 125km and 5100hm.

Thanks to my wife and daughter to let me start in the first weekend of our family vacation 🙏🏻

Shortly after the start at 6:30, Alphorn player were cheering at the top of the opening climb at Verbier. The successive relatively long and fast descend to La Tzoumaz was a flow trail with lots of banked turns, almost impossible to overtake others. Around this point, smaller groups of riders with roughly the same endurance began to form.

This was followed by a comparatively short climb and the descent to Nendaz, and then another 350-meter-long, steep climb with a gradient of up to 15% to Veysonnaz. After a 450-meter climb, we reached Heremence. Near Mandelon, we had to navigate a rocky mountain trail with loose scree, rutted sections, steep passages, and technical obstacles - some parts of which were impassable.

The final and longest climb leads up to the Lona Pass at 2,770 m. 8.2 km / 11.4% / +934 m, with the last section being navigable only as a hiking route for about 30 minutes in the high mountains - an extremely challenging stretch. This was followed by a rewarding 15-km descent toward Grimentz. The terrain changed constantly - rocky trails, smoother sections, grass, singletrack, technical passages, fast turns, and high-speed sections. Full concentration was still required to ride safely down to the finish line.

The race went really well from start to finish. I finished 9th in my age group, Seniors II, and 36 overall.
