finally time to put on zen garden, act mysterious, stare into nothingness and ponder… and after a trip like this one there‘s no shortage of pondering material.
why is there no heated toilet seats back home? how am I going to introduce onigiris to austrian grocery stores? how tf has it been 4 weeks already? what am I gonna do with all the money I made from bringing japanese toilets to our ski resorts? is half of my film gonna be ruined because I forgot to ask for a handcheck again? twice? was I sick for two days or two weeks? was hokkaido a fever dream? groundhog day? click clack goes the hot vending machine coffee every morning, that sound being the only constant in a blurr of effortless pow turns that make you question reality… somehow I’m napping on the cold airport floor again, but it happened, right? taken in 羽田空港　Tokyo/Haneda Airport by @tobiwernik

an ode to treeplanting:

the best, worst, most rewarding and definitely most fucked up summerjob I ever had.

its 5am and your alarm goes off, for a hot minute you have absolutely no idea whats going on. Its dark, below zero and your face is numb. All you can do is stare at the ceiling of your tent. Its time to get up. As you look around you notice your sleeping bag has frost on it and you forgot to put your work clothes in it last night, rookie mistake. As you wiggle out of the comforting warmth of your shelter to put on some layers, you feel your legs twitching as if they would live a life on their own. Your entire body is so sore that for moment you are afraid that you might turn into one big cramp on the spot.
The sun is just about to rise so you put on your frozen work boots and make your way to the sacred container of steaming hot battery acid. After a few bites and your third cup of coffee it‘s time to hop in the crum box - aka the rookie cabin in the back of the trucks - which smells like a mixture of fermented lunch, wet dog and dirty feet. The bumpy drive to your block usually takes around an hour and can either be made endurable by listening to your latest self-help audiobook, a Metallica album or (very rarely) by talking to your co-workers.
However, don’t get too cozy, because as soon as the trucks come to a halt it‘s time to face reality. People wake up from whatever place they dreamed themselves to be in, gadgets are securely stored away, and curses are being cursed. You open the door, seeing the land brings back memories from the previous days of anguish and the countless hours of misery. Knowing that everyone is equally fucked you can‘t help but chuckle as you jump in a puddle of mud to start marching through the rain in the direction of your piece…

Pyrenees field trip w/ @defender

on a mission to support @fundacion_quebrantahuesos_

wrapped up an amazing few days driving through the spanish countryside, learning about vultures, working together with the foundation, feeding the birds, repairing fences, painting observation huts and last but not least, cleaning the feeding station. Which translates to picking up skulls, bones, jaws, everything that didn‘t make it into the vultures‘ throats.

More fun facts: Quebrantahuesos means bone breaker - as this is the only living bird species that feeds almost entirely on bones (80-90% of their diet).

Defender has been actively supporting "Fundación para la Conservación del Quebrantahuesos" amongst other conservation organizations for more than twenty years - providing vehicles, expertise and workforce.
Grateful to play a small part in their doing and happy to snap a few frames in between. by @tobiwernik

along the inn river /

thursday, 9th of july 26
ramosch. found the spot. 8km downstream from scuol. I’ve never been here, but I liked the satellite image so picked this exact spot on the map. I left the bike trail, went into a dead end because I had a feeling this might be worth checkin out. As I pulled into the overgrown dirt road leading down to the water, I knew I‘d hit the spot.
the riverbed is about a hundred meters wide where I stand and there is no one out here. since all the snow up high is gone already, the inn is running at low tide, leaving about 80 of those 100 meters dry. half of it as a graveyard for driftwood and other remnants of the last spring flood, the other half being ultra fine grained beach sand. Hard to believe I had breakfast in my own house this morning…

"A Life Within"

to encourage viewers to step closer into the theme and focus on one image at a time, the entire exhibition was held in the dark.
wirh only a handful flashlights available at the door, each group of visitors experienced the displayed photographs in an intimate atmosphere. creating a cave-like scenery, the exhibition reflecting the subject and vice versa.

European selections for Defender Trophy 2026
Thanks @defender for an unreal event!

Showed up with little expectation, felt right at home in that environment and managed to win the selections and secure my spot in the global final!

Happy to represent Austria in Africa - very excited to test my limits for a good cause.
