Big weekend! Lakeland Trails 100k (aka cooking under the sun, on the side of a mountain...)

Thankfully my watch died before me and I made it to the end ~104k although my soul is probably still out there somewhere between Glenridding and Grasmere.

It took me 19h33mins to complete the course, so considerably slower than I had planned. Walked so much of it means I've got NO BLISTERS!!

First 50k super fun and comfortable, even the more technical parts in the dark I was able to run/jog. I think this was largely down to Emily's experience/advice ✊🏻 Girl Gang reunited ✊🏻

The second 50k literally killed me with three big climbs in baking hot sun. I think I was cooked before passing the first one. 🥵🥵🥵 But thanks to Simon for getting me through the last 15k and for recommending a great place to eat in Keswick!

Incredible views and a really nice bunch of people, would recommend on the basis the weather is a little cooler.

I only stacked in twice 😎🙃

More importantly birds spotted: Robin, Blackcap, Wren, Buzzard, Grey Heron, Swallow, Swift, Martin, loads of pigeons 🐦

Started in the H1s swapped to the R1s from Mount to Coast, again NO BLISTERS, none, what?!

Also I couldn't have done this race without Liz - who is the best 💚💚🐱

Lakeland trails 100k!

A mixture of the best and worst ive ever felt on a run 😂 had a lot of fun until the sun came out at 70k and cooked me.

Gender pos: 4th
Overall pos: 22nd
Temperature: 30°
Steps: 136,326
Apple pies: 1
Hills hurtled down: 5
Cool rocks found: 4
Hours yapping: 8
Times i tried to run the wrong way and Toby corrected me: 6
Facts about birds learned: lost track
Herds of cows: 5+
Falls: 0 (which is down by at least 6 on last year 🤯)
Toenails lost: tbc
Fun had: bajillions *

*not the last 30 tho I did feel like I was going to die ngl.

Another year, another birthday, and another back yard!

Had a great weekend running the @backyardultra.uk in Brighton, didn't quite reach my goal of 24 loops, but 21 isn't bad. Absolutely smashed my previous record of 15.

I can't thank the 48 minute crew enough, that 16th loop nearly killed me. But the constant support and chat got me through the night. And obviously the thought of @lizkbain bringing me a birthday cake in the morning helped a lot.

I also played the song Coast by Snocaps (great album by the way) on repeat through the darkest hours just to get me down that hill in time, so sorry to everyone that had to listen to that, might try headphones for future runs.

Things I'd do differently next year: not try and run a PB at London two weeks before. Run slower. Run more (in general).

Things that worked better than last year: Warm clothes for night. A tent. Electrolytes.

I guess every yard is a learning experience 🤷🏼‍♀️😎
