“I’d leave it open.”-Luke D.
Ok, I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t super pleased with how this one turned out. I kept the background a bit more loose and am happy with how the whole scene fell together. Truly, in the whole series, this is one of my extra favorite moments. Hope you enjoy it too. This OTP is my real Death and Life Brigade of the show. 🤓✌🏼

Inktober Day 2: Relic

I’m a day behind because of this painting. I had it all sketched out and went to ink last night, only to have the first pen immidiatly dry out. The second pen was a diff nib and color. The third pen smudged. I then tried my best to salvage it, bc getting behind on day two is absolutely brutal. I in fact, did not save it and only dug what could be described as my own artistic grave. There are many pens in my trash today. This is a great reminder, go through your supplies and test products. Ink, paper, paint- can all go bad or dry out. It’s so important to test prior to working on a piece ESP if supplies have sat idol a long time. I wasted a couple hours yesterday, but went back in today courageous and with intention. I believed in this piece, I needed it to be given the second chance at life it deserved.
It’s been a really long time since I’ve tried ballpoint on hot press watercolor, … I don’t love it. The ink kinda gloops in a very frustrating way. It could be this specific ink though. I’ll probably test more ballpoints in the future to see what works best on hot press, as ballpoint is one of my go to products of choice.
All this to be said, I hate inking. My entire life, whether it be comics as kids or illustrations as an adult- I have ruined MANY pieces by attempting to ink. I mostly work with strong colored pencils instead at this point due to years of frustrations. I am, however, pretty pleased with how this turned out after all this nonsense. Not sure if I’ll get to today’s promp, but I’m happy with what I’ve accomplished.

Inktober Day 1: Apple
It wouldn’t really be my art if I wasn’t posting thirty min till midnight. 👻🪦✂️🥂💀🍎🍏🍎
This piece is brought to you by a regular sharpie, bc in a world of Inktober, it’s probably the king. I think I’ve been participating since year one…. albeit I try and complete the tasks a lil diff every year. Last year was bookmarks. One year I did tiny book paintings. My favorite year was tattooed animals. Idk if I have a theme this year, but you can plan to see some fun odd and end doodles.

Cub at the Club.

Saw the viral video of @mathew_bearheart golf clubs being stolen by a black bear. I immediately knew I had to doodle this curious bear and had such a fun time doing so.
Idk what it is about bears, but I really love their shapes.

Workin on a new skate deck. I’ve been plotting this in my mind for so long and it’s finally coming together. I may stick in Bonnie, buggy, and law or sabo with ace on either side of shanks. Ugh so many designs, but the Carmine intro has had me gripping at straws to work on this for so long.

Running From Autumn.
I am clinging to summer as if it is the sun dripping through my fingertips. Like sand I can’t seem to contain it. The pumpkin king is sprinkling dust upon the trees. I see the colors starting to peak through and run like I can get away before autumn creeps up on me.
I am quite literally haunted by the pumpkin king, for I know if he rolls into town the whispers of winters time will howl at the moon.
I am not feint of heart, yet I know I cannot contain summer in a bottle infinitely.
So to the beach I run, reading in the scorching sun, playing like it’s time that will consume me enough to survive winter.

I am clinging to summer as if I could clutch the sun like it’s sand.

Have you missed the white rabbits?
I fear I hid from painting them perhaps a tad too long.
Alas, it is their time to return whether I am ready or not.
