I have been involved with the human rights campaign, the nation‘s largest advocacy organization for LGBTQ+ rights, almost as long as I have been living as an out gay man.

I am on the national board, and I have been to the annual dinner in Los Angeles for more than a decade. Saturday night, it was my great honor to chair HRC‘s annual event in my hometown.

The work we do is important all the time, but especially when there is an authoritarian in the White House who wants to use vulnerable people in our community as bait or scapegoats.

Saturday we raised significant dollars, engaged new volunteers, reinvigorated stalwart supporters, and geared up for the battle ahead. We are more united than ever in the LGBTQ+ community and last night was a beautiful reminder of what we can do together.

Thank you to Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, Governor JB Pritzker, Ashley Park, Janelle Monae, Hannah Einbinder, David Archuleta, HRC President @kelleyjrobinson and everyone else who spoke about how we can meet this moment.

Standing behind MVP @kamalaharris, as I have since 2008 when she first told me she was running for Attorney General.

Through every milestone, every fight, I’ve had her back—and always will. She’s led with unmatched grace, strength, and vision.

America may not have chosen wisely, but this isn’t the end. As Madam Vice President Harris said “sometimes the fight takes a while. The important thing is don’t ever give up. Don’t ever stop trying to make the world a better place.” I’m beyond proud of this campaign, grateful to those who stood with us, and ready to keep moving forward. This is just the beginning.

As a National Board Member of @humanrightscampaign and this year’s Dinner Chair — I had the honor of bringing to life one of our most powerful nights yet in Los Angeles. And this city showed ALL the way up.

We honored the iconic Michael Patrick King. RuPaul and Lisa Kudrow brought the magic. Niecy Nash-Betts led with grace. Olympian Brittany Bowe inspired us. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand reaffirmed her unwavering commitment. Mayor Karen Bass made it crystal clear that she and the city are always standing up for the LGBTQ+ community.

Thank you to @creativeartistsagency , our presenting sponsor, for your longstanding belief in and support of this community.

I would be remiss if I did not give special thanks to my family and friends for championing me and for your undying and continued support), especially to my sister @msbeasely who has mentored me my whole life.

This year, we celebrate JOY.
We celebrate our wins.
We celebrate each other.

Joy is not a distraction from the fight.
Joy IS the fight. ✊🏾🌈

“Speak up. Speak out. Get in the way.” Tonight, my friend Senator @corybooker did just that—making history with the longest filibuster in US Senate history. I’m proud to stand with him in this moral moment—to get in good trouble, necessary trouble, to help redeem the soul of America.✊🏽🇺🇸 by @toddhawk

Last night, we officially kicked off HRC LA Weekend with an incredible salon alongside entertainment leaders. Now, we’re just one day away from the 2025 HRC Los Angeles Dinner—a night of joy, resistance, and community in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights.

I’m honored to serve as Dinner Chair as we come together to push back against the attacks on our community and raise critical funds to keep fighting.

We’re celebrating Janelle Monáe, Ashley Park, Hannah Einbinder, and joined by Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett & Governor J.B. Pritzker.

There are still a few tickets left before we sell out—don’t wait! Hit the link in my bio and be part of this powerful night.

Yesterday, I had the amazing opportunity to volunteer with @thisisabouthumanity and was able to prepare meals in their relief kitchen opened in partnership with @icfdn and @fundaciontijuanasinhambre - they are providing 3,100 meals each day to children and families to 19 shelters at the US - Mexico border, and are on track to 1 million meals a year - because everyone deserves a hot meal.

Migrant children continue to arrive at the border at a rapid pace. We helped build a playground and met students at @yeswecanwf the first bilingual school program at the US-MX border providing migrant children full time education and safe spaces throughout their migrant journey. At Yes We Can migrant children are cared for regardless of their legal status. This back to school season please keep in mind children at the border and their right to education. Please follow their account for ways to donate and for ways to help.

Seeking asylum at our border is legal and we need to welcome asylum seekers with dignity. No exceptions. Please follow @immdef_lawcenter to support those seeking protection.

A special thank you to my fellow joyful warrior and friend @elsamariecollins for her steadfast commitment to this work & and including me in her efforts . She and her co-founders @yscalibaja & @zoe.winkler.reinis have built an incredible movement & community that reminds us all that #ThisisAboutHumanity and we all should be there to support and #WelcomeWithDignity ❤️👏🏽 ✊🏾
