I wanted to believe them when they called me “retarded.” But then I stopped and thought about the last 10 years of my life.

I’ve worked in a hospital. I’ve cared for people when they were at their weakest. I’ve helped save lives. I’ve cleaned up their family members’ vomit, urine and even their shit😌things that sometimes their own relatives couldn’t bring themselves to clean.

I’ve done things that require patience, courage, compassion and a strong stomach. Not because I’m better than anyone, but because that was my job🐝and I did it with dignity.

So maybe I’m not as “retarded” as they think I am. I’ve spent 10 years doing things that many people wouldn’t even dare to do, especially for a stranger.

And after everything I’ve done, I’ve realized one thing: someone’s insult does not define my intelligence, my worth, or the lives I’ve touched. #mystory #dumplings #retardme by @todora6954
