Under the Clouds (2026)

The first one in a series of the camouflage project.

Whenever I open the screen, there are many tragedies that catch my eye. One year ago, I went to a protest; two years ago, to another one; three years ago, my attention was somewhere else. Seeing the images in the news, I get disappointed, I get angry, and then I forget. Will I be furious with something else in one year? Disappointed again? My head has a fever, and my emotions cannot keep up. Then I look up, and I see the clouds, feeling how small I am. Perhaps whatever is happening right now is what it is. Clouds appear, move and disappear, as we do. We, each of us, move forward.

The work consists of two layers of calligraphy paper collage placed one on top of the other, as if they camouflage each other’s existence. Shapes can only be seen with the light.

Pierwszy szkic-kolaż do tego obrazu powstał dokładnie rok temu podczas rezydencji w Kalbe był nie tylko moim pierwszym szkicem wykonanym w tamtym miejscu, ale także pierwszym podejściem do tematu Estery Karp. Kolorystyka pracy nawiązuje zarówno do jej malarstwa, jak i do palety kolorystycznej mojej pracowni w Kalbe. Była to próba zmierzenia się z postacią i twórczością artystki, której nie mogłam już poznać osobiście. Zapisany wtedy kolażowy ślad stał się początkiem procesu łączącego pamięć o miejscu z pamięcią o nieobecnej artystce.

The first collage sketch for this painting was created exactly a year ago during my residency in Kalbe; it was not only my first sketch produced there, but also my first attempt at exploring the subject of Estera Karp. The colour scheme of the work references both her paintings and the colour palette of my studio in Kalbe. It was an attempt to engage with the figure and the work of an artist whom I was no longer able to meet in person. The collage I created at that time became the starting point for a process that merges the memory of the place with the memory of the absent artist.

“Upon this blasted heath you stop our way”

Togetherness does not simply happen. It requires presence, attentiveness, and a willingness to encounter one another. It is not a fixed state, but something continuously created — through conversations, shared time, and everyday gestures. What remains after such encounters often takes the form of memories, relationships, and traces.
This exhibition is a continuation of such an encounter. It brings together seven artists who first met during an artistic residency in Kalbe, Germany, in 2025. One year later, we meet again — this time in Kraków — inviting others to experience a shared space of art, presence, and connection.

Bycie razem nie wydarza się samo. Wymaga obecności, uważności i gotowości do spotkania. Nie jest trwałym stanem, lecz czymś, co nieustannie się tworzy – poprzez rozmowy, wspólny czas i codzienne gesty. To, co pozostaje po takich spotkaniach, często przybiera formę wspomnień, relacji i śladów.
Ta wystawa jest kontynuacją takiego spotkania. Łączy siedmioro artystów, którzy poznali się podczas rezydencji artystycznej w Kalbe w Niemczech w 2025 roku. Rok później spotykamy się ponownie – tym razem w Krakowie – zapraszając do wspólnego doświadczenia przestrzeni, sztuki i obecności.

Przez cały tydzień wystawie będą towarzyszyć spotkania, warsztaty, performansy, wspólne posiłki, rozmowy, film i muzyka.
Chcemy, żeby wystawa była nie tylko miejscem oglądania prac, ale przede wszystkim miejscem spotkania — wspólnego czasu, rozmowy, działania i bycia razem.

Wszystkie wydarzenia są bezpłatne i otwarte dla wszystkich. Nie obowiązują zapisy — można po prostu przyjść.
