What would happen if a group of creative young professionals who believed in the renaissance of Toledo came together? What kind of impact could they have on the future of the city? These were burning questions in my heart as I was dreaming up what Rotaract could be back in winter of 2022. Now, I get to see the positive ripple effects of this incredible group out in our community. Jobs, partnerships, collaborations, funding poured back into the community through non profits and volunteer work. A growing leadership team of Toledo’s top talent. True, heartfelt friendships that will last a lifetime. This is just the beginning. Toledo’s future is vibrant- be part of the origin story. Our YP Collab Fall Fair was the best way to ring in the season🤩🍂🍁 We had so much fun with our community partners and attendees at the National Museum of the Great Lakes! We had 12 vendors tabling and selling goods, a photobooth from Kurt Nielsen, a caricature artist, The Squeeze lemonade truck, Master Baker food truck, and a golf cart taking folks around Glass City Metropark. On Saturday, September 19, the Rotaract Club of Toledo joined PARK(ing) Day in Downtown Toledo, a globally recognized event that invites communities to rethink how on-street parking spaces can be used beyond parking. As young professionals dedicated to community service, we transformed our space into a simple invitation to sit, relax, play a game, and meet a neighbor. Because sometimes the most meaningful part of getting somewhere isn’t the bicycle, bus, or train—it’s having a welcoming place to gather once you arrive. That’s one of the ideas behind transit-oriented development: creating streets and public spaces that encourage people to connect with their community. When the rain rolled in, the Valentine Theatre welcomed us inside so we could stay dry and keep the conversation going. It was a wonderful example of what’s possible when organizations and neighbors choose collaboration over competition. 🎉 WE’RE MAKING HISTORY! The Rotaract Club of Toledo has officially been awarded a Rotary District 6600 District Grant — the FIRST District Grant project in our club’s history! 💙 Our Rotaract Family Stability Initiative will help us raise funds, purchase essential hygiene and household supplies, and assemble 100 Family Stabilization Kits for women and families experiencing financial hardship, housing instability, recovery, or other life transitions in Lucas County. And we’re excited to officially partner with The Salvation Army to distribute the kits to families who need them. 🧼 Why does it matter? Because basic necessities shouldn’t be another barrier for families working toward stability. These kits will provide practical essentials that support health, dignity, and family well-being when they’re needed most. But we don’t want this to be a one-time project. Our goal is to make this our Signature Impact Project — something Rotaract Toledo can continue building for years to come. Our club was represented at the Zone Institute in New Orleans, Louisiana, where Club President Noah Fox participated in the Emerging Rotary Leaders (ERL) program. Two highlights that made the experience especially impactful: Rotary’s progress toward the finish line of polio eradication and the organization’s vision for the future of membership and Rotaract. “Whatever Rotary may mean to us, to the world it will be known by the results it achieves.” -Paul Harris, Founder of Rotary Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 45 years. in 2025, there were 52 reported cases of wild poliovirus. So far in 2026, there have been 22 cases: 3 in Pakistan and 19 in Afghanistan. The finish line is closer than ever before. The Zone institute also highlighted Rotary International’s goal of reaching 1.2 million members and 125,000 Retractors by 2030, which will mark Rotary International’s 125th anniversary. Noah said, “It was an energizing and impactful experience to participate in the ERL Program. There were panel discussions with senior leaders of Rotary International, and so much of their messaging focused on Rotaract, smoothing the ramp between Interact, Rotaract, and Rotary, and potentially creating space for Rotaract voices in high-level leadership discussions with the RI Board of Directors.
