Can you believe it? My first photography exhibition. OF MY LIFE. A SOLO exhibition. And in Switzerland! ❤️

I've been sitting on this news for a while, and I can finally share it!

"BECOMING HER", my first solo photography exhibition, is happening this November in Lausanne, Switzerland, as part of the CinéMasala Film Festival!

Funny how life works. In July 2024, while in New York for the Stony Brook Film Festival with my film "If", I walked into B&H and bought an analog camera. I started photographing simply to unwind, to find something that was just for me, away from the pressures of filmmaking. Little did I know where this little obsession would take me!

Shot on 35mm film in Purulia, West Bengal, "BECOMING HER" is a series featuring Chhau artists, particularly the Sakhis, who take on feminine roles in these traditional performances.

I've always been drawn to exploring gender, sexuality and identity through my work. Photographing these artists, being welcomed into their lives and earning their trust has been an incredibly personal experience. This exhibition belongs to them as much as it does to me.

I'm deeply grateful to the artists and to the CinéMasala team for making this possible.

From buying my first camera in New York to exhibiting my photographs in Europe. Life is strange and beautiful sometimes! ❤️
