This was my first time joining a conservation symposium, and it opened my eyes in ways I didn’t expect.I learned so much — not just about techniques and materials, but about the deeper responsibility we have as a community to care for what carries memory, culture, and meaning.It made me reflect on how vital conservation is for the future of our art ecosystem. As our Indonesian art scene continues to grow and gain global attention, the need to protect, preserve, and steward our works becomes even more urgent.I truly hope the conservation scene in Indonesia can develop alongside our artists, galleries, and institutions. That’s how we ensure today’s art can still speak to generations 50, 100 years from now.Thank you to SCICCA for organizing this and for the incredible opportunity to learn. Art Jakarta has always been committed to supporting peripheral Indonesian art scenes outside of Jakarta. This year marks the 7th edition of Mini Art Malang (MAM), and we’ve been proud to support MAM since its 4th edition.As the Board of MAM, I’m so proud of how MAM has grown. This year, I’m honored to serve as an advisor for Festival Pahlawan Anak, an inaugural event organized by Save the Children to mark their 50th anniversary in Indonesia.Children are among the most vulnerable in our society, and the data shows that many continue to suffer from abuse. We all have a role to play in stepping up to protect them. I believe deeply in kindness. Art has also taught me the importance of supporting those with less voice and power. What an incredible, fruitful 9 days in Singapore.I’m grateful to have been part of so many meaningful programs, including several under the MASA Singapore initiative:1. MASA Singapore Opening at Takashimaya Hall (MASA)2. Art Jakarta Night, Singapore – hosting 36 Singaporean collectors3. Group Exhibition featuring Iswanto Soerjanto at Mizuma Gallery (MASA)4. Special Presentation of Iwan Effendi & Book Signing with Ibu Melani Setiawan at Mizuma Gallery (MASA)5. Orchid Extravaganza Launch at Gardens by the Bay (MASA)6.
