First day of recess, second grade, ran up to one another, and the first thing we said at the same time was, “ Wanna be best friends?” The answer was “Yes” and that’s the way it was all through school. Eventually, Alan settled with his family in Florida and I in Georgia. Today, happily, he and his family stopped by for lunch with Beverly and me on their way back home. Being with an old friend – it’s like hitting that button on the GPS that says Re-center. by @tomacts63

In 1982 at the Alliance Theater, this is Beverly and me with Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter after their first time seeing me in the musical Cotton Patch Gospel. They saw it again in 1995 and 2012. After each production, we had a wonderful conversation about... well, everything. Those three encounters with the Carters - they changed me. They presented me with a new measure of what it is to be human. Meeting in person, that much goodness in two people -- or, well actually...meeting that much Love in two people, seeing how real it is, how possible it is for anyone -- it's not something I could ever back out of again. #jimmycarter #rosalynncarter #koinoniafarm #cottonpatchgospel #harrychapin #clarencejordan #russelltreyz #alliancetheatre #theatricaloutfit by @tomacts63

Okay, people! This is 51 years and counting. It's a good thing. And, the food at Elektra in The Forth Hotel met the occasion brilliantly. by @tomacts63
