Johnson Hills Open 2026

Another great experience traveling to Cincinnati to visit @benf_disc_golf and @tomahawkdg and play a killer tournament at Johnson Hills Park DGC

For having not played this course prior my expectations were low and I tried to focus on the strong parts of my game, with the wet and muddy conditions making play even harder, I knew I had to lock in. Glad I could finish top 5!
Congratulations to @tomahawkdg for taking down MA2 and @benf_disc_golf for his 2nd place finish right behind

Another @tossin_saucers reunion in the books!

Played a round at Fire and Smoke today. Got to film the front nine before my phone battery got really low. Little did I know, the very next hole after I stopped filming I would get my second ace in 4 days. 2nd ace with this @kastaplast Berg and 4th ever ace

Today I competed in the Southern Ohio Classic FLEX tournament. Basically this tournament is a rated practice round for the Southern Ohio Classic that takes place this weekend (day 1 at Fire and Smoke and day 2 at Black Bear). I absolutely love the tournament layout at Fire and Smoke and was glad I could compete in this tournament as I won’t be able to do the tournament this weekend. Besides winning MA2 by 3 and shooting the hot round by 2, I also got my first ever tournament ace on hole 7 with my @kastaplast Berg. Even with having missed a handful of putts, I was able to shoot a -9 for a 988 rated round. Hopefully I can compete in the SOC in the future. I have also decided that I will start competing in MA1.

Yesterday I competed in the Fire and Smoke Classic. This course is only 10 minutes from campus and I really enjoy playing it. For the tournament they moved the baskets on holes 2 and 18 to play as par 4s. Round 1 felt like a mediocre round as I wasn’t really doing anything special. My putting felt below average as I was missing 15-20ft putts. Somehow I managed to still shoot a -8 with a double bogey. My previous best was a -7 on the regular layout. Round 2 felt the same way. Putting wasn’t quite where I want it to be, throws weren’t as good as round 1, and the wind picked up for most of round 2. However, if you just look at scores for the tournament, I would’ve finished T3 out of everyone. Congrats to Cheyne Barnhouse on taking down 1st in MA2 and the best showing shooting a -13.

Went and played a practice round for Saturday and safe to say that I did solid. Had to skip hole 6 because it is still pretty flooded, but luckily there is a path to get around the hole. Putting was alright. Missed a couple short ones but made a 35-40ft+ putt on 16 for the bird. With the bean fields grown I was also trying to keep my disc in play. Fortunately, I didn’t lose a disc. Most likely won’t play 6 or 12 and there will be temp holes put in place but it was nice to fire off a solid round before the tourney to build some confidence.

After a great first tournament of the year collecting my first win and then having a tough and disappointing showing at the Nati Big 3, I’m happy to stay above 900. I’ve got another tournament later this month. Might do another one in September, so stay tuned! by @tomahawkdg
