The festival ends with top-tier ensemble NeoQuartet—which will become the new ensemble-in-residence of Contempuls for the next three years—will take full command of the stage and close out the entire festival. They will offer a program featuring compositions by Johannes Kalitzke, Helmuth Flammer, Tiina Myllärinen and Tomasz Prasqual. Its conceptual centerpiece and the grand finale of this year's edition will be the world premiere of a new string quartet by Luboš Mrkvička, written once again as a festival commission.

The Polish string quartet NeoQuartet, consisting of Karolina Piątkowska-Nowicka (1st violin), Paweł Kapica (2nd violin), Michał Markiewicz (viola), and Antoni Majewski (cello), specializes in the performance of contemporary music. The quartet is among the most active European ensembles in the field of new music and regularly performs at prestigious festivals in Europe, China, South Korea, Japan, and the USA. They often combine a classical sound with visual arts, modern dance, and electronics. They have recorded ten albums for Polish, German, Greek, and American labels, hold the 2018 Pomeranian Artistic Award, and have received several nominations for the Fryderyk Award. Since 2012, they have organized the NeoArte – Synthesizer of Arts festival in Gdańsk, which focuses on popularizing contemporary composition, organizing masterclasses, and commissioning new works from Polish and international composers. Starting in 2026, NeoQuartet will become the new ensemble-in-residence of the Contempuls festival for a three-year period, for which they will annually perform a new composition commissioned from a Czech composer by the festival.

In ARMA Museum in Ubud I bumped into a little choir. These four wonderful ladies coming from Finland, Taiwan, Canada and Holland, met to sing together as the conductor of their choir left for 3 months. After a while they asked me if I could conduct them, which I did with joy. We rehearsed some songs and had so much fun. “Can you please come back next summer?” - I said yes. That was an amazing experience, my throat sore was suddenly gone, we were all elevated and hugged each other like real friends. Never before have I experienced the healing power of music so directly. by @tomaszprasqual

Gamelan - I learned to play it some 25 years ago. Bumping into a local group of musicians, who invited me to play with them, made me jump in time to my youth. And when they asked “Will you please come next Friday again?” - how much I would have loved to say yes 😿 Making music together connects over any language barrier. Shared moments of joy and the feeling of community are worth so much more than all the money of this world. I left with tears in my eyes. by @tomaszprasqual

Some things happen much faster than we could ever imagine.

Just one week after presenting „No More Continents“, my 2nd "composed act of thinking" at PSi #31 in Jakarta, I have been invited to present it again, this time at the Eco-Cultural Performance Art Conference at the Tidar University in Magelang, Central Java.

I'm deeply grateful to @Dr. Feriyal Aslam, artist, anthropologist and lecturer at Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR), Bandung, whose recommendation made this possible. It is crazy wonderful how conversations at one conference can so quickly open unexpected paths, new encounters and collaborations.

Indonesia keeps amazing me. Every day brings new ideas, inspiring people, unexpected invitations. It feels less like travelling through a country and more like entering a living network of artistic and intellectual exchange.

Looking forward to sharing this work in Magelang, and to everything that may grow from these encounters. Deeply grateful.

Some weeks seem to change the direction of your life.

After the overwhelming premiere of my 10th opera, "only Love can break your Heart", and just before flying to Indonesia on Monday to present my next lecture-performance, I would love to share another piece of quite exciting news that makes me genuinely happy.

Over the past nine months, I have been on an extraordinary journey through "u-lab: Leading from the Emerging Future" at the Massachusets Institute of Technology MITx, developed by Otto Scharmer and the Presencing Institute. It has been much more than a course. It has profoundly influenced the way I think about leadership, relationships, systems, and the futures we are capable of creating together.

Many people know me as a composer, dramaturg, pianist, or artistic system designer.

Fewer know that another part of my work is accompanying visionary people and organizations as a Strategic Sparring Partner for Visionary Leadership - helping them discover the deeper story behind their work, sharpen their vision, and transform bold ideas into meaningful, long-term impact.

I couldn't imagine a more inspiring first collaboration: Over the coming months, I will be mentoring Green Sphere Gardens in Homa Bay County, Kenya, founded by the wonderful Fredrick Onyango.

When we first spoke, I realized that this is not simply a project about regenerative agriculture.

It is about regenerating childhood. It is about children growing up in a living relationship with the Earth. Learning how to care for soil, water, biodiversity, and one another. Becoming a generation that can regenerate entire communities through knowledge, responsibility, and hope.

I have always believed that art can change the way we imagine the world.

Now I feel equally passionate about helping visionary people create the conditions in which those new worlds can actually emerge.

For me, leadership is not about having all the answers.

It is about creating the conditions in which better questions - and better futures - can emerge.

Let's build beautiful futures together. 🌱 by @tomaszprasqual
