Gotta say, the camera on the phone I got last year takes surprisingly good pics of the moon. Smoke making for a neat orange or red color. by @tomathan1701

Sky was doing some pretty wild sky stuff tonight. Almost didn't go out to look because Bozeman was dreary and overcast all afternoon. I could see the red as soon as I got outside and the green was so bright I could see the outline of the mountains with my naked eyes. Even my camera before the night-mode processing was picking up great color. by @tomathan1701

Google photos decided to generate this today and send it to me. Been exactly 2 months since I had to put Waffle down. Still taking some getting use to. I've stopped saying, "See you tonight," out of habit when I leave in the morning. I've been half joking that my heart attack failed to take me out, but went for my dog instead, and I can't help but wonder if there's some truth to that.... Given all the other stuff going on with her, I do wonder if the stress of randomly being kidnapped and taken somewhere else for 3 days was enough to start her on that downhill slide we couldn't get turned around. by @tomathan1701

Not a banner 2 months...Had to put Waffle down yesterday. Was having eating problems prior to my heart attack, and that was unfortunately the start of a downward slide that we could never get turned around. All told, 15 years is pretty good for a pug, especially one with her wide assortment of health issues, including spending 6 months getting her diagnosed with Addison's Disease right out of the gate and then the Great Gallbladder Disaster of 2022. I've been working with a new vet the last 3 months and she apologized for being a little late getting into our room that first day because she was trying to go through Waffle's records. She then pulled them up and started scrolling and scrolling and scrolling and scrolling. We eventually gave up and she said that only goes back to 2022... all her older records were in a different file.

Waffle was always my goofy little buddy. Always deforestation from attention from wherever she could get it, even when vets were poking her with needles or sticking thermometers up her ass (but weirdly was far less forgiving of letting people cut her nails). Was way too smart for her own good. When she was young, she was freakishly athletic and could jump straight onto my kitchen table. After getting on her case a few times, she learned the obvious lesson- the table is off-limits..... if Tom is in the room. I was in the bathroom one time and I heard her taking a running start and stuff started flying. I rushed out as quickly as I could, but by the time I was out, she was already on the floor and staring at me as if I had gone mad. I coukd hardly get after her at that point..... but we both knew what her sin was.

There's no denying that the last 9 years haven't been the easiest. Good health was never her defining personality trait. But she was my little buddy and it was always good to come home and have her waiting for me. It's been weird already... I'm still mentally planning my days around drug times and potty walks... and then I remember that's not happening anymore. I have no doubt that I probably wasn't the best owner Waffle could have had. But I hope that in the long run, I did as right by her as I could and that she was happy. by @tomathan1701

Happy First Contact Day! No message of hope this year, humanity is the baddies and we're in the Mirror Universe. We're gonna shoot some Vulcans in 38 years and the universe is gonna be a real fucked up place for a while because of us. Good luck, y'alls. by @tomathan1701

Welp, ya boy had a helluva end to the last week. Turns out I had a heart attack last Wednesday and got some stents put in my heart on Friday. The circled pale spot in the top pic was the partial blockage that was the problem child. First, I'm home all's good, nothing too worry about at this point.

Will keep this a lot shorter than my post on other platforms, but just to say that I've been having symptoms for over 6 months and didn't do anything about it because it didn't manifest in the way I had expected heart issues to manifest. Yes, there was some left shoulder soreness that should have clued me in, but the chest discomfort was right in the center of my chest and more akin to strong gas pressure than pain. Frankly thought I was having exercise-induced heartburn or acid reflux. Only reason I finally went to the doc was because the two most recent instances had me feeling bad all day and it was annoying me. And it ended with a 48hr stay in the ICU.

So, tl;dr is if something seems off enough, especially recurring, get it looked at. Your "no big deal" might end up being a surprise heart procedure. by @tomathan1701

Super bummed that today is #StarTrekLowerDecks series finale day. When the concept was first announced, I was about as unenthused as one could get. An animated comedy Star Trek show from the Rick & Morty guy? That sounded like about as awful of an idea as anyone could have. But, I'm a slut for Star Trek, so I'll give anything a try once.

And it almost immediately became one of my favorite shows. As it stands, it's one of my 3 favorite Trek shows (Lower Decks, Deep Space Nine, and Strange New Worlds all scratch very different itches, so the order they rank depends on the day you ask and the mood I'm in). Lower Decks always has so much charm and heart to it. And the comedy works really well. I think my biggest fear was that it would just be taking the piss out of Star Trek and the fans. But it never did- it always felt like it was laughing WITH Star Trek and not AT Star Trek. Star Trek was always in on the joke. And the Lower Decks/ Strange New Worlds live action crossover? Another concept that I really didn't think was going to work, and ended up being one of my favorite episodes.

I could have watched this show for another 100 seasons, and really hope we get to see this cast and crew of characters again (appearances in other Trek shows? A series of Lower Decks movies? A surprise series revival?). Thank you @trondynewman @jack_quaid @noelwells and @eugcordero for a truly amazing addition to the Star Trek universe. Thanks for 5 awesome seasons, and hope this isn't the end for Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, and Rutherford! by @tomathan1701

This is the face of a pug who just got woken up from the deepest, bestest nap because she still struggles with the concept that I'm cool with her sitting/sleeping/etc anywhere in my whole apartment except for on my pillows. by @tomathan1701

In Battlestar Galactica, Brother Cavil throws a tantrum because he's a robot that's supposed to see, hear, smell, and do cool things, and instead he's stuck in a shitty human body that performs poorly. I'm starting to agree with the dude. Could hardly see anything out there (looked more like city light reflecting off a haze), so my phone once again had to do all the heavy lifting. Someday, I'm going to travel somewhere where my shitty human eyes can actually see the Aurora. taken in Bozeman, Montana by @tomathan1701

Welp, here we are. 10 years to the day after stepping foot in Bozeman for the first time, tomorrow is my last day working for the City of Bozeman. CoB was a pretty good place to work, but I think it was time for change.... and a lot of big changes, it will be. My next stop will be only my third workplace as an adult, and it will be my first time outside of Dot Gov. And while I'll have the support of an MSP, I'll be the only in-house IT guy at my next stop (vs my current group of 10 people), which isn't totally terrifying at all. But, here we go. Lots of good coworkers and users I'll miss, but it's time to see what's over the next hill. Alpha Mike Foxtrot, y'alls. by @tomathan1701
