outside of my job, I speak to high school and college students about my career/navigating the job market/college in general. I even met a fellow community college —> 4-year transfer who asked for advice on working while in school (omg I don’t miss that at all). Thanks to SEO for letting me speak on the panel at the conference! taken in Civic Hall by @tomatocarkey

my thoughts on networking

And it this is how you prefer to network! I don’t see anything wrong with it. I blame my low attention span.

ABOUT THE CIRCLE CEO:

I never have formally introduced myself. My name is Aaliyah, and I call myself Captain CEO of The Circle Social Club. I am not alone in building this - I have a team behind me, including my personal assistant, Iva, my COO/DJ, Aniketh (@anikethnarayanan), my admin assistant, Jacki (@jacki_lira), and all of my friends and family who support.

This journey to the Circle Social Club actually started when I was backpacking in Thailand (second photo, I miss yall so much!) Growing up, I have always been surrounded by community - I have a *very* supportive group of amazing cousins and siblings (third photo), my mom, grandparents and GREAT-Grandmother (fourth photo), and my best friend Jenica - so I am no stranger to having a support system.

But when I studied abroad in Thailand and backpacked neighboring countries and cities, even though I didn’t speak a lick of Thai, I always could count on my friends to help me get around. So, when I moved to New York, I maintained the idea that community is important, no matter the town, city, or COUNTRY you’re in.

So, if you’re like me and want a cool group of people to hang with and get support from, I could use some help on this journey. My team is doing an AMAZING job and I’ve gotten a lot of people asking how they can support me building the Circle: and my biggest ask is just to tell your friends about us and show up to events.

October has a hefty calendar! I have FIVE events lined up, including one where I’ll be hosting a panel and live Q&A where you can ask me questions. Hope to see you there, and here’s to growing the Circle worldwide! by @tomatocarkey
