The elegant 2021 Landmark (Hop Kiln Estate) displays a very attractive Bing cherry, black fruit appearance. It is medium>full with a deep ruby red appearance, perfumed red fruit aromatics and a mouthful of berry/cherry flavors. Well balanced and structured with ample fruit and crisp acidity, it delivers refined tannins at the spicy long finish. Overall a very classy and restrained Pinot that gets attention but doesn’t demand it. by @tombarras1

Produced from three different parcels, (Rochegrès, Roche Noire and La Rochelle), and two different wine making routines, the complex 2021 Chermette Moulin-à-Vent displays a beautiful ruby red appearance, backed up by intense red fruit aromatics and confirming red fruit flavors; nicely structured and well balanced with lively acidity and refined mouth coating tannins. A joyful Gamay that should be perfect with tonight’s roast chicken. It’s a 9.2 if I were rating it. :) by @tombarras1

The 2023 Caparzo Rosso is a gorgeous wine in all respects; eye catching, ruby red/garnet appearance; engaging red fruit aromatics and flavors; nicely balanced and structured with abundant fruit, (Bing Cherries) juicy acidity and soft refined tannins at the lovely satisfying finish. At least a 93 if I were rating it. :) by @tombarras1

Located on the highly regarded Montosoli Hill, the savory 2015 Cerbaia Reserva is classy and refined; medium/full bodied with perfumed black fruit aromatics and flavors; elegantly textured and well balanced with fresh acidity and refined tannins at the satisfying finish. Excellent overall. Buy it if you can find it. by @tombarras1

The utterly delicious 2018 Chateau Gloria is medium>full, with an abundance of black fruit aromatics and flavors, a good structure, and a well balanced fruity core with juicy acidity and powdery tannins at the smoothly textured, long mouth coating finish. One of the better values in Bordeaux. by @tombarras1

Flavorsome, oak free Carricante from Sicily’s Mt Etna. The 2024 displays an engaging light straw appearance, aromas and flavors of citrus and green apple, a crisp, sur lie enhanced, medium body that delivers an energetic lasting finish. by @tombarras1

I’ve enjoyed numerous vintages of Sociando going back to when Robert M Parker first introduced his “discovery” to subscribers. The round, full bodied 2020 is the first vintage under the stewardship of Sylvie, Jean’s daughter, and it is a gorgeous, aromatic mouthful of rich, ripe black fruits, medium+ acidity, powdery tannins and and an excellent long finish. by @tombarras1

Medium bodied, balanced, firmly structured with juicy acidity, and grippy, mouth coating tannins leading the way to a long finish. May need more shelf time or another hour or so aeration. by @tombarras1

We invited our very good friend Paul Mertens for dinner tonight and he showed up with this gem for the shrimp appetizers. Do I really have to tell you how excellent it was? Nah!!! You already knew. by @tombarras1

Gorgeous oak free 2018 Volnay Premier Cru enjoyed with finger food while watching this year’s Super Bowl. No notes this time, but it is an amazing pour. I gave it 90 points on the Delectable site!! by @tombarras1
