🎃The time has come! #31DayHorrorChallenge is here to see you through spooky season! 🎃 Forget the Freddies and Michaels - we’re going genre! Each day in October, we’ll recommend a different title to get spines tingling, and tonight, watch out for long-leggedy beasties.

Some behind-the-scenes shots from a short film I directed this weekend.

A very “no budget” approach: I set myself a creative challenge to shoot something entirely at home, using just an iPhone 17 Pro and a handful of gear. With several of my feature scripts currently in circulation with studios and producers (the powers that be!), I was keen to take my writing into my own hands and get something made in the meantime.

Huge thanks to @pembo_art for helping me produce it and wearing many hats on the day, including being the BTS unit photographer!

And thanks to the very talented cast, Liam Evans (no relation!) and @jerrileeactor for volunteering their acting talents and fully committing to their roles.

It was a very fun (and exhausting) day! I’ll share more details about the film in the near future.

Very sad to hear of the passing of Sam Neill. I remember pinching myself when Sam first signed on to ‘Bring Him to Me’, knowing there would be a screen legend in my debut film. Meeting him on set was certainly a career highlight. I’ll always remember our first interaction. It was in his trailer, where his makeup artist was busy cleaning a mass of fake blood from his face. I tried not to look too starstruck as I praised his scenes and asked if he was happy with how his first day of shooting had gone. With that trademark dry wit, he simply smiled and said, “I think we got away with it.”

From my brief interactions with Sam, he was a kind man with a wicked sense of humour and always had a glint in his eye. I’ll always treasure my signed script and the Jurassic Park print he kindly signed for my son (complete wth dinosaur drawing!)

Rest in peace, Sam. Your memory will no doubt live on for generations. Condolences to his family.
