JCC Over the Years: Year 4

For its fourth consecutive year at the JCC (@mm_jccmanhattan) in 2025, Tom Gold Dance presented the world premiere of “Otherwhere.”

With music by Fritz Kreisler, the duet explored Jewish mysticism through the wandering spirit known as the dybbuk. Performed by TGD favorites Harrison Coll and Sara Adams alongside live musicians, the work exemplified the JCC’s role as a vital venue for bringing original choreography and live art to New York audiences.

JCC Over the Years: Year 3

In November 2024, Tom Gold Dance returned to the JCC Manhattan for its third consecutive year, presenting the New York Premiere of "Brush Strokes." After making its world premiere at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston earlier that fall, "Brush Strokes" came home to New York City alongside the world premiere of "By a Waterfall."

Both pieces on this program were set to solo piano works—Emmanuel Chabrier for "Brush Strokes" and Soviet jazz composer Alexander Tsfasman for "By a Waterfall"—continuing Tom Gold's signature approach of pairing evocative new choreography with live music.

JCC Over the Years: Year 2

"Uncanny" became Tom Gold Dance's second program at the JCC Manhattan in 2023, featuring music by Czech composer Gideon Klein — a Jewish artist interned at the Therezín concentration camp during World War II. Both sections, "Sandman" and "The Golem" [pictured], had their world premieres with this performance, continuing the company legacy of bringing new work and live music to the JCC.

JCC Over the Years: Year 1

After its virtual premiere during COVID, "Portraits" became part of Tom Gold Dance's first program at the JCC Manhattan in 2022.

Inspired by David Hockney's "Drawing from Life" at The Morgan Library & Museum (@themorganlibrary) and set to chamber music by Czech composer Bohuslav Martinů, the work captured what The New York Times (@nytimes) called the "bliss of not standing still," with its live music and dance marking our return to in-person performance.
