This project was probably the most special one in my short career as a filmmaker. It all kicked off in the summer of 2022 when I was deep into procrastination mode, scrolling through Google Maps in search of special holiday destinations. I ended up hovering over Kazakhstan, and the pictures were unlike anything I'd seen before.
So, naturally, I did what any producer would do — I checked out flights, and they were surprisingly cheap. The local guides seemed nice, too, and there was even a local film industry. That's when I pitched the idea to Felix, who I already considered an accomplice. So before Esteban could fully grasp the scheme, he had a ticket in hand, flying from Hamburg to Almaty.

What followed was the craziest week in a dusty van with three lovely locals, freezing colds, a heavy case of food poisoning, and gathering some of the best stories you could ever tell at a bar. I'm endlessly grateful to share those memories with Esteban, Felix, Simon, and Ben, and for all the people who have supported us in turning this idea into a film.
