This is the moment where my worst surfing fear became reality, I knew this moment would come at some point stepping into big waves but didn't expect it to be this extreme! 🤣
The biggest wave I've ever seen on the horizon that alone was scary but with a foiler flying right towards me extremely fast!
I didn't know what to expect but yes it was like how you would imagine!
Feel like I've been baptised now properly and its helped with confidence in the water, I would not have caught my biggest wave so far this day if that didn't happen cos I was too apprehensive before this moment.

Just wanna say if anyones wanting to go into bigger waves please do your research and get the right equipment its no joke!

-Breath Training
-Correct heavy duty leashes
-impact vest/suit
-correct board
And inflation vest when needed
Don't forget to train breath! Most important when all else fails!

Minimise the risks before the situation arises so when it does you are prepared!

Has a great channel on YouTube telling you all you need to know about prep for big waves with info on everything this has been a massive help to me!

Also hawaii eco divers for surfing breath work on YouTube @apneasurf

And would also like to say thank you to @andrew.j.douglas
For pointing me in the right direction for equipment and giving good advice.

For building the best Gun you could ask for and congrats on the glassing Job! It survived 😂🙏

Extremley grateful to have caught a decent wave and got out safe thanks to God and thanks to my wife who puts up with this my antics! 😅 this was a mental breakthrough moment for sure! My Mum inspired me to do this!

Ive never been as exhausted in my life past 5 months with 2 kids now 😅 Ive been running on coffees and Van Halen everyday to keep going, very busy from morning til night and my wife doing alot of hard work everyday, never mind its been flat for the whole summer almost and lost any stamina i had 😂 upside its been so nice and enjoyable at the same time but Im determined to keep the dream alive seeing as winters looming and ive been saving this one for emergency but times running out and I dont have much energy left to draw on so im going to have to break the emergency glass and reach deep in the Dad Rock crates for the secret weapon and this one has got me motivated bigtime to get back to it and be fit, (nevermind its one of Patrick Batemans personal favourites) for when you really need that psycho edge.. 😂
You know you can draw on this one when you have to dig deep to make things happen..The Final Hope....

Warriors of Winter! Just wanna say a quick thank you to everyone who's reached out with congratulations on winning the #warriorsofwinter comp..
I know It's quite an accolade in UK and ireland! Crazy!
Did not expect to win at all. I just entered on the off chance and there were some absolutely class shots in there! Congratulations to all you guys! There was something about @davidfergusonpix Occy liked, and im extremely grateful to win. Looking back the image is quite raw, David took it in the moment standing on the rocks on a sketchy unruly day and thats what winters all about really!
The Raw unfiltered moment and surfers going for it!
Took many beatings on the learning path this winter, and kept trying never gave up and, in the end got some of the best waves of my life in return..
This was a full circle session back at home where everything just clicked and confidence felt right even though there was wind, bumps and it was a bit wild,
so it's a session I'll always remember!
Im no pro or anything just a normal surfer trying my best to push myself so I guess I'll take a win for once! 🤣🫡

Full circle moment.. I started chasing the bigger surf as a way to dissolve the world for the breif moments you are on the wave as an escape after being mentally at my lowest after losing my Mum, and good friends in such a short time..
I thought I'd never feel happy again..
So i forced myself to go after this as it was the only thing extreme enough to drag me out of my own head for those small moments and I didn't want to take life for granted anymore..
It might not be big to some but its massive to me..

Ironically i found some sort of unexpected solution within chasing the bigger surf and this is one of the most important things ive ever learnt in my whole life thats why id like to share this and by no means am I perfect or healed it just helps as someone who has struggled with erratic emotions my whole life nevermind after greif ect..

Going into bigger Surf is 90% a mental game
You are sometimes in full survival mode in potentially life threatening situations, but in order to even face this or survive you have to mentally condition yourself to work with the fear, panic and adrenaline through your breathing and visualisation, embracing the chaos instead of fighting and knowing there is nothing you can do but control you own inner calm when on the outside you are faced with something that is so large and powerful it seems undefeatble, and to learn to trust that if you develop the inner strength and calm the situation will always let you go and pass over.. I didnt know this at the time... but on reflection I was given the tool to be able to cope with my own inner state in life through an external pursuit by accident or not, thank God.

If this has any value to anyone.. Sometimes the inner change needs to be triggered by an external source that is not the one causing you your immediate pain.. breathe, learn to be at ease with your own mind through something proactive as thats the only thing you can control in this life when chaos hits and it does seem impossible but its not, run, climb a mountain, paint a picture ect ect just do something you love and the answer will be found within the process..

What a way to end winter with a session on the reefs as the swell arrived, with @chazza_surfs shooting in the water this time!
Fair play for the long swim out..🤙
Lots of wind and spray made for some mad ones and got heavy towards the afternoon at the beach, good way to sign out from the maddest winter of my life.. Everyone having fun and thats exactly what surfing is all about dont have to be the biggest day or the glassiest just some good old fashioned single fin sends and good vibes !

Hes captured some classic sessions this winter 🫡 Il be proud to show these to my kids one day in my surf scrapbook (look at your old man back in the day) 🤣 hahaha cringe and on that note im welcoming my Son into the world very soon! So looking forward to what this year brings and downtime. Peace out everyone will be back in the sea soon when i can, thanks to everyone I shared sessions with this winter, love it 🤙

Surfing the Alaia the other day, this is my favourite board to ride! A modern adaptation of the traditional Hawaiian finless surfboard by Tom Wegner, only thing the cold and rubber dont match the board! 😂 Was craving a less stressful fun surf session after only having the time to go out when the waves are full on recently!

It was still pretty solid for Alaia cos of how difficult it is to control but this style board is the true soul of surfing fly across and down the face even sideways only going where the wave allows and gliding with the flow and also trying not to stack it 😄 it also gets your balance on point so when you are back on the modern board you feel solid even when hitting bumps and chop! Love this board and the feeling there is nothing like it. Will one day make a wooden version and surf it in shorts 😂🤙
