BLACK CHAIR. BURNED ALIVE.

Made from leftover materials
⁣
Part of Dreamworld project

As a kid I dreamed a lot, during the day and in the night. I would often have nightmares growing up. Drawing and expressing my feelings on paper helped me cope with this. Till this day I sometimes still dream or have nightmares and I try to do the same as I did when I was younger, but now I’m transforming the dreams in to a furniture piece.

The furniture piece represents the feeling I have when I think back to the dream/nightmare that I had. I discovered that the dreams that I had, have a connection to each other as do the pieces. But the dreams can be also stand alone so the pieces reflect this. This project is never ending as I will continue to dream and create.

All of this is made possible by volunteers & the 212.575 team - @tomjacobs.space @gaiavanegmond @krztiaan @roboith @santandeiv @precariousproletarian - and many more who’ve been part of the journey through the years.

HETEHOND

Is it hot or is it a dog? Combine the two and you’ve got yourself a full hotdog meal.

Tom Jacobs is an artist with a love for comfort food. Between his pop-ups and art projects, he serves up creations that are playful, bold, and made to satisfy.

Cooking is his way of connecting—whether it’s putting together a quick bite that feels like home or surprising you with something unexpected, Tom makes sure every plate comes with a smile.

Come taste what HeteHond has cooking this time! taken in Symbiose by @tomjacobs.space

POINT THE FINGER AT - 2023

“Point the finger at” is a machine that points the finger at everyone except itself. This is also how society nowadays works: everyone is blaming each other for things that go wrong, but they don’t look at themselves.

This machine was on show at @dutchdesignweek 2023 - ABOVE THE FALLOW LAND (bridge @sectie_c )

ABOVE THE FALLOW LAND

It all started from a dream, a stroll into the wasteland and the need to create new bridges. Welcome to this artificial park. Our constructed landscape to protect and cherish. Constantly in progress. Where rivers flow from taps, trees grow from planks and weeds draw the sky.
Here we invent our own nature. Breathe life into static materials. Nurture the old to flourish the new. We dig deeper to see further.
Listen to the resonating wave that keeps us going and alter it with your gesture to our Fallow Land.

Last year, “Het Creatieve Huis” and @sectie_c asked me to present my graduation work at @debijenkorf.

📢 SHITE TALKER, Freedom of speech, even on the beach!

Online platforms seem to be the perfect place to anonymously blurt out whatever is on your mind; many do so without a second thought. To visualise the huge pile of crap that is left on the internet every day, Tom Jacobs built an installation from waste material that does the same in an analogue setting. The cogs and wheels are in constant motion, reacting to each other at their own pace, unstoppably rattling their protest. The bold ‘Shite Talker’ can be easily accessed by phone. Just text or call to get anything off your chest. Your complaints will be announced loud and clear, somewhere out there – but to whom? Don’t worry, they won’t be traced back to you.
