You apply for a mortgage… and suddenly your phone starts blowing up. 📱

No, your lender didn’t sell your information.
When a mortgage lender pulls your credit, that inquiry can historically trigger what’s known as a “trigger lead,” allowing other companies to learn that you’re actively shopping for a mortgage and market to you.
That’s why you may start getting calls, texts and emails from lenders you’ve never spoken with.

The good news: you can take steps to reduce the unwanted solicitations.

And one important reminder: if someone contacts you claiming to be associated with your mortgage, don’t assume they’re working with your lender. Verify who they are before sharing any personal or financial information.
