Today is, somehow, 6 months since we lost Ashley. I am still struggling to fully live in that reality. I miss the little things like just being around each other. I've heard some pretty profound things about grief over the last six months but the one that really stuck out to me was the idea that grief is the way you continue loving someone after they're gone. For me it's not a matter of trying to focus on other things or distract myself, it's how do I carry the love and memories with me everywhere I go. How do I show the kindness she showed, how do I help in the way she was so helpful. How do I laugh as hard as she could make me laugh. I don't want to stop grieving Ashley any more than I want to stop loving her.

I started school this week and it was very exciting but each day as I got to my car I was hit with the realization that the one person I want to call is Ashley to tell her all about it. While I can't do that, I can think about her on my way home and hope she is somewhere smiling at the thought of me being a college student again (4th times the charm I just know it).

Anyway, I don't know if I can/will keep posting on the 6th because a part of me accepts that it's not just the sixth where I grieve losing Ashley. I just hope if this resonates with you, you take a second to spread some kindness in memory of our beautiful girl. by @tommybechtold
