It’s hard to believe it’s been 20 years since I locked the door for the last time when The Masquerade was located at 1503 E. 7th Ave. countless bands over my five 5 years there from 2001-2006. My first tutorial when I came from Atlanta to Tampa on Ybor City as well as what community means. As crazy as things are at the root the more things change I guess the more they stay the same. It’s been an absolute pleasure watching @rohnamusic and @indienightlive grow and mature over the years. Seeing them evolve as people, as artists, and as business men has been one of life’s joys in a tough industry. 10/23 buy a ticket to @noclubs presents at @theritzybor they’re playing with 3 other bands in @parrotfishband @kittymeow.x2 @palovaband who are making moves all on their own as well. Support Indie. Support local. Buy a ticket. ✊❤️‍🩹 by @tommybfld

He knew Crowbar was going to close five years before it happened.

When Tom extended the lease in 2021, he knew the 20-year anniversary in 2026 would mark the end of Crowbar in Ybor City. Having that timeline allowed him to prepare for the closure and use Crowbar’s story to advocate for independent venues across the country through NIVA.

Tom DeGeorge is the owner of Crowbar in Ybor City and an outspoken advocate for independent music venues.

BIG UPDATE FOR OCTOBER & the 4th Quarter of 2026. There’s so much on the horizon. I’m super excited for all the work we’re doing through @nivassoc @dtourlive @fmamevents @fmamgmt @tampawaterlimo so much growth and positive movement.

We’re making great strides with the new venue and what I’d like to let people know is that in my life I’ve never been afraid to fail to get to success and accomplish a mission. I’ll try different avenues all at once and as things fall off I’ll see what is clinging on for hope or what’s glued in place firm as hell and then continue to work and strengthen until everything is impenetrable like teflon. I can see where we’re going and it’s a beautiful thing.

I’d love to see you all at @coppertailbrewing Thursday 10/1 at 6pm. Let’s kick the door down on October and start this fourth quarter strong the way I know we can. Let’s finish STRONG!!! One door may close but I promise a thousand will open. Soon you’ll see it more clearly as I already do. Forward, Onward, Upwards. ✊❤️‍🩹 by @tommybfld

🚨ONE WEEK AWAY🚨

Until Tampa’s independent music community comes together for a special night of live music at @coppertailbrewing, all in support of building what comes next ⏭️

Featuring @bangarangtampa, @petlizard813, @discordtheory, @wulfgangamadeusmusic, and @kristopherjamesmusic, the October 1st benefit will help @tommybfld secure funding for a new independent music venue in Tampa ❤️

After more than 20 years, Crowbar Ybor closed its doors this past July. The venue may be gone, but the artists, community, and people who made it special are still here 🤝

Now, we have an opportunity to turn that energy into something new. Not a recreation of what came before, but a space built for the future of Tampa’s independent music scene‼️

No set ticket price. Pay what you can at the door. Every contribution helps make a new home for live music possible 🎟️

If you can’t make the concert you can still help out by heading to our kickstarter and supporting our campaign through the link in our bio or going to floridamaverick.com 🔗 taken in Tampa, Florida by @tommybfld
