“We made it.” We enjoyed 24 years with Tommy before we had to learn life without him. Since then, somewhere along the way, the goal was set: hold the contest for at least 24 years.

Two weeks out. Friday, October 23, The Tommy kicks off!

The weekend always opens with a night that feels more like a homecoming than anything. Whether you've been part of the Tommy for years or you're walking in for the first time, this is the night we come together. We're celebrating true friendships, the surf we love, and the next generation coming up.

This year it means a little more. In our 24th year, we’re throwing the first kickoff in our new home across the street.

Here's the night: live music by Timing Belt, ice-cold Pacifico and other drinks, and a great lineup of goods and services up for grabs, all donated to the cause. Keep an eye out this week for some sneak peeks!

The Tommy is going LIVE! Thanks to a generous sponsor, we’re putting the entire contest on a webcast—drones, multiple angles, post-heat interviews, the full production.

Though nothing can replace being there in person, if you can’t make it to Flagler Beach, now the contest comes to you. Every division, every heat, from the pros to the tadpoles—plus the tow-at with local pros and Sunday’s memorial paddle-out—streamed from start to finish.

This year’s kickoff party is shaping up to be a paradise for surfers and ocean lovers.

The auctions are stocked with a mix of goods and experiences, each one donated by a business or friend of the Tommy, and every winning bid helps back a student or pro surfer’s future.

After a long hiatus, the Tow-At is BACK!

Saturday at the Tommy, Robbie McCormick and Ryan Huckabee, hometown pros and two of the world’s best aerialists, will get whipped into waves at speeds up to 35+ mph and launched sky-high for an air show rare for Flagler Beach.

Robbie Goodwin will skillfully man the ski.

All three are part of the first class of our Fellows Program, making this an extra special demonstration of why we back them.

Presented by Craeft Surf Studio, the Tow-At goes down at the Flagler Beach Pier, right after the contest.

So here are the real questions: Who will send it bigger, and who will stick the landing—Ryan or Robbie? 👀 Gotta be there to find out!

Two surfers, one team, because Tommy loved nothing more than surfing alongside his friends, and stayed fiercely loyal to his crew.

WaterCare Irrigation and Well is back to sponsor the Tommy Team division, and it couldn't be more fitting. WaterCare is owned and operated by Duane Taylor, one of Tommy's best friends and a partner to this contest year after year.

Duane's crew handles water from below ground to above—wells, pumps, sprinklers, and systems. And we love how they view water as a resource worth stewarding.

You'll find Duane and his family at the contest—worth a thank-you, and a little heckling him back into the water. ;)

The Junior Pro division is where we get to see the sport’s rising stars—young and hungry surfers making their mark on the competitive stage.

A longtime supporter of the Tommy, Surf Station is back to sponsor our Junior Pro division. For more than 40 years, they’ve been a fixture of East Coast surfing—known for one of the largest board and gear selections anywhere, and for keeping the whole coast dialed in with their surf reports, forecasts, and live cams.
