Twenty-five years ago, September 11, 2001, began as a beautiful day.

The sky was clear. The morning was bright. People went to work, hugged their families goodbye, made plans for the day, and went about the ordinary rhythms of life

— never knowing how profoundly the world was about to change.

Then came unimaginable tragedy at the World Trade Center, and across our nation. So many innocent lives were lost. Families were forever changed. First responders ran toward danger while others were trying desperately to escape. The grief of that day has never truly disappeared.

But 25 years later, I also think about what came through the darkness: extraordinary courage, compassion, generosity, unity, and a renewed appreciation for one another. Strangers helped strangers. Communities came together. People opened their hearts in ways they never knew possible.

There is no good in the tragedy itself, and nothing can ever replace the lives that were taken. But even in the darkest moments, humanity can choose to bring something good into the world.

Today, we remember those we lost. We honor those who served and sacrificed. And we remind ourselves that love, kindness, courage, and unity can rise from even the deepest sorrow.

May we never forget.
