After a load of questions about my Mitsubishi Quad Eight Westar tracking console i show you why i love this type of consoles. Thats because its modular. If i want to do some maintenance i can take out the channelstrip and even take out the eq and mic preamp modules. All i can say is that it makes the maintenance a lot easier 🙌🏼

Channelstrip layout.
The channelstrip starts with the bus routing and the option to choose mic or line input and if you want to use it as a direct output module (thats what i want).
Next is the mic preamp section. You can hookup 2 microphones and switch between them with the B button. It also hase a phantom power and PAD switch to lower a hot signal.

Beneath it is the Aux section that doesnt work in my case (the console is chopped from a larger format console)

Then comes the Eq module section and beneath that is the Filter section for highpass and lowpass and a small monitor section.

After getting the faders smooth again it was time to check out wich type of eq i want on wich place.

The graphic would do the job on channel 1, the hihats. I just need some spark on the highs with a few notches on the switch and i cut a lot of low signal with it.
For channel 2 and 3 i use the parametric eq so i can sweep the frequencies and add some extra thumb for the lows and slaps for the mids.
The rest of the channels can have the semi or full parametric because there will be samples from vinyl that doesnt need too much attention because its already mixed.

And if i want types of eq on other channels i simply can swap them out 🙌🏼💯🎛🎚

I programmed some loops on the Akai mpc 60 and recorded them into the Boss sp202 for some extra dirt and grit. I love this way of processing drums because the sp202 can bring a lots of flavour to it.
