a love letter to silk road, a camberwell institution known for serving xinjiang chinese food at an affordable (in london!!!) price. 🥡
many sister dates were had here, with the exact same order: two orders of luxury lamb noodles (it comes with a fried egg, which really makes all the difference) or the Middle Plate Chicken if we’re ravenous, the home-style aubergines (could polish off two bowls of rice with this), and two bottles of tsingtao. reliable, comforting, delicious. taken in Camberwell, London, UK by @tomotaberu

the immense comfort of ripping into a taco, juices dripping down your chin, with a margarita (with an excessively salted rim) in hand is one of the absolute joys of life.

1-2: chale tacos (taipei, tw) - happy hour everyday (except tues) 17:00-18:30!!! took advantage of this with a friend once, and gorged ourselves to the absolute limits whilst alternating between beer and margaritas (do not recommend, but made for a fun night). 💫
3: sanbarco (miyazaki, jp) - enjoyed after a spectacularly horrendous surfing session, where i managed to stand up once. but an hour in the sea is equivalent to running a marathon imo, hence a celebration of ice cold IPAs and a plate of gourmet tacos was very much necessary. 13/10 post-surf treat. 🏄🏻‍♀️
4: el camion (london, uk) - absolutely off limits during the day, peak enjoyment hours are 1AM onwards, if and only if you’ve 1) just finished your hospitality shift or 2) need to wrap up the night with a last round of tequila shots. the birria tacos are sinfully delicious. 🌮 taken in Chale Tacos by @tomotaberu

i hadn’t solo traveled in awhile, so i was feeling slightly nervous when heading to my first meal by myself in chiang mai. i ended up at this tiny shack off the side of the road based off their 4.8 google maps rating, where the only thing on their menu was khao soi - chicken or beef. i chose to skip the cilantro and raw onion (sorry i’m a child), but the pickled mustard greens and deep-fried egg noodles added a wonderful crunch and it was proper spicy — combined with the 32° heat, i was blowing my nose between bites (not v sexy, but very much worth it).

quarterly dinner date with my dad, who enjoys food & drink as much as i do😌 (my favourite meals with my dad, however, may be the random assortment of supermarket finds we plated up and enjoyed with a can of local beer during our travels across the baltic countries)
anywho, surprising favourite of the night was the ぷくぷくホップ sususu from @pukupukubrewing , an almost dessert-like carbonated sake with notes of juicy white grape and tangerines. such a fun summer treat!! taken in 髙崎のおかん by @tomotaberu

belated birthday meal thanks to @sue0117 🩷 (all photos by her as well)
the perfect meal consists of splitting a bottle of wine imo, and nibbling on small plates. vero did all of that for us and more: a fun lil bottle of rosé along with zucchini fries, grilled octopus, trippa alla romana — and they surprised us with a birthday tiramisu at the end!! taken in VERO by @tomotaberu

a restaurant in tokyo that specialises in emilia-romagna cuisine — and they do it very, very well. order the appetiser plate; it comes with a generous serving of mortadella and warm crescentine (a bread typically enjoyed with cunza, a spread made from pork lard and flavoured with garlic and rosemary). a carafe of lambrusco if you enjoy the fizzy stuff, but plenty of other options to choose from as well. balsamic flavoured gelato was also a standout!! i’ll be back 💌 taken in No.mi.no-ichi by @tomotaberu

a collection of my random snack/lunch plates — the first one is a plate of leftovers (simmered pumpkin, sesame spinach, koya-dofu, greek yoghurt with honey, a handful of almonds), and the second one being on rotation every few days (japanese sweet potato, shine muscat grapes, almonds). third is a bowl of pasta with a oven-roasted red pepper tomato sauce, with plenty of mozzarella🍅
as much as i love sitting down for long meals over wine and sake and everything in between, i also love having simple meals like this while reading hehe taken in Tokyo, Japan by @tomotaberu

i am an avid fan of outdoor drinking on summer nights (who isn’t?). this particular evening was a predictably stunning one — great company, two bottles of wine, little delectable plates of sardines, olives, pan con tomate, chicken liver mousse with candied kumquats, etc. we were stuffed to the brim by the end of it, but they surprised us with a slice of the most decadent chocolate cake with fresh raspberries, which we obviously devoured.
i will be back!!!! perfect for a catchup with your gals, but also a cute lil date night spot. taken in 20 Spot by @tomotaberu

時間かけて豚バラをコトコト煮て、初めてタコス作りに挑戦できたけど初挑戦にしては上出来（形が歪だけど）！やっぱお店レベルには勝てんが、めーっちゃ美味しかった。缶ビールで流し込んで、もう最高。トルティーヤプレスも買っちゃいたいが、意外と高いし、多分年に2回ぐらいしか使わない気がする（笑） taken in Tokyo, Japan by @tomotaberu

went to tutu with my dad and tried their most famous option, which was the focaccia with mortadella, ricotta, and pistachio cream. as expected, a solid combination but the focaccia was mid imo (i’m sorry!!!!)
it was borderline baguette-like with its crunchiness, whereas i like my focaccia to be thick, fluffy, and chewy👉🏼👈🏼 by @tomotaberu
