‘looking back and looking forward / building worlds through being bodies’ 2021-‘24

as new things are approaching I am with a half nostalgic half excited heart looking back to my graduation from culture, criticism and curation at central saint martins this summer.

an attempt to summarize and bring together the work, challenges and joy of my past three years for our degreeshow in june.

Pages from the CSM BA Jewellery annual 2024

1. Johnnie day wearing a vest found outside a club in Paris. The back seam hand been broken along the top and bottom and was repaired by me using a series of seam horn tapped stab fastenings. His silhouette has been worked into to resemble a sculpture or an object more than a body. I will post up close photos of these seam horns soon.

2. Interpretive text by CSM BA (HONS) CULTURE, CRITICISM AND CURATION student @tona_rictr describing the larger project that was being worked on.

“In this collection, Carraic appropriates jewellery methods to produce mechanisms of repair, which adorn the garments that were left behind, torn, incomplete. In an act of compassion, brass hardware repairs clothing while also acting as a muse, inspiring silver accessories. The aggressive nature of his sharp, puncturing screws serves as both violator and repairer of breaches, while the sharp, dangerous imagery invites you to share in his mechanoia.” by @tona_rictr
