🏡✨ SOLD IN VERONA, NJ! ✨🏡

Some transactions are extra special because of the relationships behind them.

Congratulations to Craig & Nicole on the purchase of their new home in Verona, NJ! 🎉

Their journey actually began years ago when Justin Herrera of ToneMedia met them while filming their wedding and documenting the start of their life together. Fast forward to today, and we had the privilege of helping them take the next big step—becoming homeowners.

Finding the right home was the easy part. The negotiations, inspections, and additional rounds of negotiations all went according to plan. The biggest challenge came when the seller delayed closing three separate times. Selling a home filled with a lifetime of memories isn’t easy, and while the process tested everyone’s patience, Craig and Nicole remained understanding, flexible, and focused on the end goal. Last Friday, we finally received the clear to close, and this week they officially became homeowners!

We love that a ToneMedia client became a ToneHomes and The Haslett Team client. Even better, we discovered during the transaction that Craig and Nicole are related to some of our wonderful past clients who purchased with us in Roxbury back in 2024. It’s truly a small-world story.

On a personal note, helping clients in Essex County always feels a little like coming home. As a graduate of Caldwell University, these were my old stomping grounds, so it was especially meaningful to help another family find their place in a community I know and love.

We couldn’t be happier for Craig and Nicole as they begin making this house their own. They’re already busy painting, planning renovations, and dreaming up future kitchen and bath projects.

Here’s to new memories, new traditions, and an exciting new chapter ahead. The best is yet to come. ❤️🏡

She saw a studio. I saw a basement.
Steph walked into a house in Morristown that had already sat on the market for two years and started describing rooms that didn’t exist yet. I stood in the lower level doing math on why it wouldn’t work.

She was right.

I was the one who needed convincing. Two months and $15,000 later that basement was a studio apartment. Seven years later the same tenant is still there.
If you’re the spouse who sees it, keep talking. If you’re the one doing math in the corner… sometimes the math isn’t the whole picture.

Just us, beach vibes, and zero winter chill—way before kids and way less chaos 😂. Here's Steph and I at Unico in Mexico. Back then, December was all about trading snow for sand, and honestly, we’d still choose sunshine over shovels any day. We can't wait to retire in South Carolina one day.

Holding this first set of keys was more than just opening a door—it was unlocking a dream. I remember the excitement, nerves, and pride all at once. It was a journey, but every step was worth it:

1️⃣ Saving for the Down Payment: Lots of budgeting, sacrifices, and sticking to our goals. This was our ticket in, so we made every dollar count. FHA loan did help a ton.
2️⃣ Finding the Right Place: Countless viewings and some tough decisions, but we knew we had to feel a spark—and we did when we found the one.
3️⃣ Navigating the Process: From offers to inspections and paperwork, buying a home was a learning experience, but having a solid team made it manageable.

This property had been sitting on the market, looking a little rough and in need of serious TLC. But we saw the potential! With a solid plan and a skilled general contractor (shoutout to Dom!), we transformed it from run-down to renewed—and even added a studio apartment in the basement for extra rental income. 💰

💡 Pro Tip: Don’t be discouraged by a fixer-upper! With the right team and vision, properties with potential can turn into powerful investments. Sometimes the best deals are the ones that just need a little love (and some great design - shout out to Steph 😆).
