What an unforgettable day at the inaugural Nelson Mandela Marathon! 🏃🏽‍♂️🇿🇦✨
The new route combining with the Slave Route Challenge was pure genius. Running through Bo-Kaap brought so much color, energy, and vibe to the race. 🎨🏡
But the real highlight? That brutal Koeksister Climb up Pentz Street! It absolutely destroyed the legs, but getting that sweet koeksister at the top made the entire struggle worth it. 👑🍩

🦈 Sardine mortality update: Scientists have detected pilchard herpesvirus (PHV) in dead and some healthy sardines along the West Coast, but it’s still unclear whether the virus caused the recent die-off.
Researchers are still investigating whether environmental stress, such as low oxygen, algae or unusual ocean conditions, may have played in the mass deaths.

There is no evidence PHV infects people or other animals, and no general fishing or canning ban is currently justified.
The public is advised not to collect, eat or feed dead or dying sardines to pets.
I witnessed menbers of the public collecting the dead fish for consumption, i also saw gulls feeding on the the fishes.Pets however seemd to avoid them. by @tongascope

Grey dawn in Cape Town. Beneath a blanket of mist, trains carry thousands toward another day's work. The city's true engine is not steel or concrete, but the people who rise before sunrise and offer their bodies , skills and services to keep it running.
