So sad today because we have lost our beloved Spot to a sudden illness. Spot was one of three podengo brothers born at Covela in 2011 just after we took over the farm. He was the athlete of the pack - he loved his daily race with our (V6!) Land Rover heading home up the hill from the farm I have clocked him at 40km/h. He was also master of the high jump – clearing (almost always) the 2m-high perimeter fence at our house. Because of this adventurous boy that we had to install a second “airlock” gate just behind the first one, creating a ‘Dogcatraz’ system to keep him at home. Handsome, soft as butter and terrified of fireworks, Spot brought us so much joy and love over these last nearly 13 years and it is difficult to come to terms with him not being here with us…. R.I.P. Spotty. R.I.P. Dora, our last surviving Covela dog, left us today. She is now back to terrorizing the boys - Spot, Teddy Roosevelt and Alef (L to R to her right here)- in the dog park in the sky. The house feels empty without her….RIP Dora…. ❤️😢 #coveladogs by @tonico.pt
So sad. This year is ending on a bit of an”annus horribilis” note: today we lost our beautiful Alef. He recovered from back surgery three years ago but, now 13 years old, some problems were bound to come back. In this case in the shape of crippling arthritis. What we didn’t expect was for things to go so quickly after losing his two brothers earlier this year - Spot in May and Teddy (Roosevelt) in October. Just like them, Alef had a great life and we loved him deeply - he made sure of that! He was the most affectionate (and spoiled) of the three. Now there’s an Alef-shaped hole in our lives and it seems much bigger than he physically was! R.I.P. my beloved xodó! #alef #coveladogs #podengo by @tonico.pt
