Somehow, in the middle of a very busy summer, I directed two shows.

During GFTQ Camp 2026 at @groundfloortheatre , I directed Foolish Dreams. A show completely devised, written, designed, and performed by our campers. After three years directing the camp, this was my first time directing the full production, and I’m really proud of what our young artists built. They took an idea and turned it to a fully realized show in two weeks, and they owned it.

Then, just last week, I directed Carl Gonzales’ Mom and Pop for its @austinplayhouse debut as part of their Festival of New Plays. Coming back to this script after nearly two years, with an almost entirely new cast, reminded me of one of my favorite things about directing: you can know a piece deeply and still walk into a rehearsal room and discover something new. Oh, and have a lot of fun doing it!

I also couldn’t have asked for a better experience at Austin Playhouse. I felt trusted and supported, and getting to share the performance with so many people who helped shape Mom and Pop along the way made the whole thing even better.

Two unique processes and I’m really proud of the work we made in both.

Austin Playhouse is thrilled to announce the cast for the regional premiere of Steven Dietz's PERIL IN THE ALPS!

Hercule Poirot is back in this sequel to the hit comedy MURDER ON THE LINKS! This diabolically funny romp travels to the snow-capped Alps, where a daring kidnapping and a web of eccentric suspects await. Inspired by Agatha Christie’s Poirot Investigates, six actors play dozens of colorful characters in an exhilarating blend of suspense, humor, and theatrical magic.

Returning cast members from MURDER ON THE LINKS include Ben Wolfe as Hercule Poirot, Lara Toner Haddock as Captain Hastings, Tonie Knight as Woman One, Huck Huckaby as Man One, and Sarah Chong Dickey as Woman Two. Bailey Ellis joins the PERIL cast as Man Two.

Directed by Robert Tolaro with assistant direction by Sarah Fleming Walker. The production team also includes costume design by Diana Huckaby, lighting design by Mark Novick, sound design by Robert S. Fisher, scenic design by Mike Toner, properties design by Kiryat Jearim Castillo, with Barry Miller as the production stage manager and Stephen Mercantel as assistant stage manager.

Still taking it all in… My first professional lead role and my first Los Angeles premiere.

I’m so proud of how this film turned out and beyond grateful for the love it received. Seeing a full house at the historic Egyptian Theater showing up for our movie… I was genuinely moved. Thank you to the incredible cast and crew for pouring your hearts into this, and to @laliff_ for creating such a beautiful space to celebrate Latino voices in Hollywood.

To God, my family and friends, thank you for lifting me up every step of the way. Just a year and a half ago, I left LA and moved back to Texas, unsure of what was next. And now, I’m back here… because of a role I booked back home. Full circle.
