The long nights and stressful mornings finally paid off. On May 4th, I graduated from the first degree-granting HBCU, Lincoln University, earning a B.S. in Criminal Justice. My HBCU has taught me so much about becoming a man, and I wouldn’t trade the experience for the world. Lincoln put me through some of the hardest and most difficult times, but those challenges only made me stronger. LU matured me into the individual I am today, and I am beyond grateful for that. Before coming to Lincoln, I struggled to find myself. But once I connected with the right people and found my crowd, everything changed for the better. One of the biggest blessings Lincoln brought me was a lifelong brotherhood, Groove Phi Groove. I am a proud member of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship Incorporated, a Spring ‘23 initiate at the Mighty Lion Chapter. Groove has become such a huge part of my life that it’s hard to put into words. I will forever have my brothers and my shield. The brotherhood will never stop seeing me around and I plan to remain a consistently active member. Sword and spear to the grave! Most importantly and definitely not least, I need to thank my Lord and Savior. Dear Heavenly Father, if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be here today. You created me; my strengths, my weaknesses, even my perfections. I placed all my faith in you and trusted the plan you laid out for me. I knew you would work everything out in the end, and you have never let me down. To my family: you are my rock. Lincoln, Groove, and God shaped me into the person I am today, but everything I do is for you. Every goal I chase, every decision I make, and every challenge I face, I always have you all in the back of my mind. These past four years have been truly amazing, and once again, I wouldn’t trade them for the world. I can’t stress that enough. So, in conclusion… sike.
