On June 12th Russia celebrates its birthday and 8 years ago on this same day, I stepped foot in Russia for the very first time 🎉...

I didn't know back then the importance of such a date here in Russia... I was just a Westerner who had only come to watch one of the best football World Cups in recent history...

Little did I know, that I would be celebrating this important holiday for years to come... Honestly, I could have never expected what this country would become to me...

Happy Russia Day to everyone who calls this incredible country home! 🏡

Traveling in Russia in 2026 🇷🇺 has become quite unusual and hard to cope with... Flights delayed or canceled, airports temporarily closed, routes changed, restrictions everywhere...

And then seeing a huge cloud of smoke from a drone attack on one of the Wildberries warehouses right outside your airplane window... it's mind-blowing 😵‍💫

It's still hard to see and even to admit that something like this is actually happening... 😔😔😔 taken in Russia by @tony.nomadic

🔸 Church of St. Antipa, Moscow.

One of the oldest churches in Moscow, and one of my favorites. The Church of St. Antipa has been standing since the 16 hundred, it's located few minutes from the Kremlin and just steps away from the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. What makes this place so special is that it actually holds three separate churches inside, each one built in a different century, the 16th, the 17th, and the 18th.

And one more thing, even Ivan the Terrible considered Antipa one of his heavenly patrons. And apparently he even married one of his wives right here.

Its artists keep the culture and tradition of ballet and opera alive, forming new generations of talent and bringing a piece of Russian culture with breathtaking performances to stages all over the world.
