✈️ ON THIS DAY IN TRAVEL — OCTOBER 8

On October 8, 1922, American aviator Lillian Gatlin made history by completing the first transcontinental flight by a woman.

She flew roughly 2,680 miles across the United States, a remarkable journey at a time when aviation was still in its early days.

Travel history is full of people who dared to go further, fly higher and make the journey possible for those who came after them.

A century later, her journey still reminds us: every destination begins with someone willing to take the first flight.

Spotify brought a masterclass to Lagos.

About 120 people filled the room at Polygon Spaces — podcasters, producers, brands, and creators who have been building mostly on their own for years.

The sessions were practical: audience behaviour, data, community, consistency, marketing, monetisation. People left encouraged.

But one reality remains:

Spotify is expanding advertising tools in Nigeria.
Yet Nigerian creators are still not part of the latest Partner Program expansion that unlocks deeper monetisation in other markets.

Education is useful.
Ecosystem support is essential.

The next questions are harder:
Can local shows access meaningful revenue?
Can Nigerian listening data become useful to Nigerian creators?
Can the industry move beyond awareness into real infrastructure?

ACCESS BANK NAMIBIA IS NOW AUTHORISED TO BANK

The Bank of Namibia has granted Access Bank Namibia Limited authorisation to conduct banking business in Namibia, effective 2 October 2026.

The approval means the bank can accept deposits and provide banking services to the public.
