POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The Ides of ROCKTOBER are upon us.
SISTER ROSETTA THARPE was brought to my attention by Andrew Hickey and his spot on podcast "The History of Rock & Roll in 500 Songs" if you don't know it you should.
This Lady was playing lead electric in the 1930's
When I say she payed, I mean she Wailed! Every band ever owes her a gigantic debt of gratitude!
She was a Rock Star years before the term was even invented. Her playing was unparalleled, Her energy unequaled and her larger than life reputation well deserved.
Enjoy!!! by @tonyvcomic_

13 ROCKTOBER
Early on this thing we call Rock, was called The Devil's Music ( mostly by well meaning misguided Christians ) and that's what drew young people to it. Rebellion, against the Morals that we whorshiped
And the music embraced it; "Sympathy for the Devil", "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" . "Running with the Fevill" etc. Hell! Early on She was a " Devil in a Blue Dress"
Let us not worship the Dark Lord but maybe a little wink for helping us cast off the shackles of Convention, Boredom and the straight and narrow. by @tonyvcomic_

4th of ROCKTOBER
We all know where it came from, this music of a generation. The Blues. Primarily the from Black Musicians in the 1930's & 40's.
Howlin Wolf, certainly needs a shout out. ( thanks today to Patrick Bryant and his amazing radio program , " Subject to Change" on 88.1 fm )
You want to hear every riff you've ever heard from Dr. John to Tom Waits to Cream to Clapton Led Zeppelin and beyond.
Check out "Smoke Stack Lightning"

Well, it's upon us once again, Happy ROCKTOBER keepers of the Flame!!
Heres a sobering thought for those of us who believe in the The Power of Music.
There were no Prime Time Grammy Awards given this year for Rock Music!! Let that sink in.
It's up to each and every one of us to to keep the fire burning.
I will dedicate this month to blowing on the embers that will ignite the inferno that is and has always been more than just music but a way of Thinking. Rock On!!!
Stay tuned and turn it up to 11...( Spinal Tap ) by @tonyvcomic_
