Yesterday I got to see the puppy I raised as a service dog in training, now fully trained and working as a service dog!

Leaving Tula back in November, for training, felt like the hardest thing I’d ever done. I raised this sweet girl since she was six weeks old, and that journey was far from easy. There were nights in the beginning where neither of us slept, and moments where we just didn’t understand each other. Despite those hard moments, I have never loved anyone or anything more than Tula.

For 13 months, she came first. Her wellbeing and training were my priority, and it became second nature to think of her needs before my own. So of course, the first couple months without her, I felt like a piece of me was missing. No matter what I did, I missed her. I thought about how she was doing and wondered if she missed me too.

Now I know she did. But just like me, she was onto bigger things, she had found her purpose. Seeing her with her veteran graduate, how happy they are and how much they need each other, made me realize this is what it was always about. Tula was destined for this. When her graduate described their first encounter, and how quickly they fell in love with each other, I knew this was meant to be.

Tula, you inspire me. Keep being the bright, energetic, empathetic dog you are— the world needs more of you. You’ve taught me to be more patient, more grateful, and most importantly, more brave. I have never been prouder in my life, and I can’t thank @canineorg enough for this opportunity and for all that they do. And thank you to my @tustep.tulane family for all of the support, I love you all 🩵💚

Talking with Tula’s graduate, they told me volunteers were always thrilled to see her and would seek her out just to say hi. She has that effect on people. They also told me they never thought this would be possible, and that her impact is just beginning.

Tula, you are everything good in this world. I’m so thankful for our time together, and for our final hugs and smooches. I will miss your full body wiggles. Thank you for changing my life, and for all the lives you’ll continue to change. ❤️❤️ by @too.lovable.tula

Tula arrived at Tulane today after a long day of travels all the way from California! She loves all of her new friends and is so excited to be starting her journey of becoming a service dog 💞🌷💚

It has officially been 40 days since I left Tula at professional training and as much as I miss her, I am proud to know that she is doing well in her training and working hard to become a service dog.

Today, in her monthly report I learned about how Tula is doing! I am proud to learn that she has settled well. She is working on the “hold” and “push” commands and target training! She is doing well with her trainer and has been described as “bubbly and eager” and anyone who knows Tula knows thats so true ❤️

Today is a very special day! Tula turns 2💝💝 i left her with some of her favorite birthday bocce treats & lambchop. Reminiscing on her last bday with friends and how small she was when i first met her. Her graduate tells me she is enjoying her bday and her new toys. GUESS WHO I HEARD ABOUT TODAY! TULA GIRL💝💝 This month I learned that Tula is doing extremely well and learning so many new commands focused on anxiety disruption. I am specifically proud about her learning “behind” during shopping w her handler! I cant wait to see where Tula ends up, we all know she was born to make people smile and change lives😌💝

Enjoy some of our best memories from last April! April was a lot of firsts for Tula— first flight, first mall visits, first escalator experience, first beach encounter, first time meeting new friends, first time in her stinkin cute crocs & first cafe study dates. I miss my brave buddy on all of these adventures but i couldn’t be more proud❤️❤️

This beautiful and perfect puppy wrote back today. Tula has been doing well and recently went to the mall and was easygoing and engaged! Mall dates were always our favorites.

She has begun learning even more impressive commands and behaviors like the basics of anxiety disruption! I never doubted Tula but I also didn’t know just how much this she would continue to amaze me. Even from afar Tula inspires me to be a better person.💝

Today I received a monthly update for the beautiful and lovely Tula! Hearing about Tula is always the highlight of my month🥹

Tula is continuing to learn how to retrieve and learning how to turn on light switches with her nose! She is doing well with training overall and I couldn’t be prouder. ❤️❤️
