We made it to the newspaper! I for one haven’t made the paper since high school track and field and what a way to return. Check out these highlights to learn more about Brandon and I and how we ended up in Battle of the Beach!

Next up is the primary bedroom and the fun is just getting started!

Since I started renovating my home I’ve become more and more confident in my skills. So much so that my friends trust me enough to do work in their house. It took some convincing, but I’m just about finished with upgrading my besties entryway! Here’s to the first of many more to come 🙌🏾

You don’t need a reason to wear that good outfit in your closet. Wear it now and release those endorphins.

I for one had to remind myself of that recently. Working from home I got lazy with dressing up at all. Especially when I’d take lunch breaks to paint and build. Now that the dust has literally settled (for now), I can enjoy these new clothes.

I especially like to shop @target for their Future Collective line, but they have so much to love. Would you believe this entire look came from Target?!

Check out this fit and more in my LTK linked in my bio!

#Ad If you’re getting into DIY, this Drill Driver Kit is one of those tools I’d definitely want in my toolbox. 🔨 I use a drill like this for everything from quick home projects to bigger jobs. It has everything you need without overcomplicating things. If you’re ready to stop borrowing tools and start building your own toolbox, this is a great place to start.

What project could you tackle with this GreenWorks Power Drill?

I’ll say it again in case you forgot, outside diy projects are a different beast than inside! This new experience is fun though so I’m excited to keep going.

Finally sharing the “why” of all this digging in the yard.

Some of you know that I’ve been starting and stopping this particular project for over a year. As of very recently, a shed is in my living room.

Small house joys!

Maybe we could call this, Operation Get the Shed Out of the House.

In any case, I’m so happy to take you on this journey with me!

One thing about being a teachers kid, we can organize, decorate, create, and design with few supplies and a little bit of time. I’m 30 plus years in and gift baskets are a fun way to make other people happy. And that makes me happy!

Thank you Dolly for all you did for your community and for generations of kids. And for being part of some of my favorite movies.

But you thought this was a diy page? Yes! I’m building a few things and building connections. Tools AND transformations.

Like a slip cover over a skeleton, or like trying to dress a baby.

It’s been a journey to say the least. Living in your renovation takes guts, and lots of masks. Plus a good bit of patience. #toolsandtransformations #firsthomebuyer #livinginmyreno by @toolsandtransformations

Quick Story Time: I was recently in a big box store looking for a very specific tool. I could walk this store blind folded with how much I’ve visited. And I was on a time crunch so I’m speed walking with headphones on to the aisle my tool should be on. I get there and the area is blank where the tool should be.

Then enters a kind stranger. “Hey little lady, can I help you find what you’re looking for?” First of all sir, you’re not wearing a vest to show you work here and second, No, I don’t need help. What I actually stated was “no thank you, I know what I’m looking for, I’m just not seeing it in stock.”

Stranger proceeds to describe the differences in the tools a few times before I say “I just need to find someone who can tell me if the tool is in stock.”

Stranger proceeds to walk away irritated as if I had an attitude.

Strangers, if there’s no eye contact or verbal announcement of needing help, it’s okay to just nod hello and keep walking.
