MONEY, RELATIONSHIPS & MARRIAGE — 1

MONEY IS NOT THE ENEMY. HOW WE RELATE TO IT MATTERS.

Money is one of those subjects that can bring couples closer together - or slowly drive them apart.

Think about it.

A couple may love each other deeply, yet argue repeatedly about spending.

One wants to save; the other wants to enjoy the present.

One feels they are carrying too much financial responsibility; the other feels constantly criticised.

One wants to support extended family; the other worries about the future of their own household.

Sometimes, the disagreement is not even about whether money is available. It is about what each person believes money should be used for.

And this is where wisdom becomes important.

Money problems and relationship problems are not always the same thing.

A couple may be experiencing genuine financial hardship. Their income may be insufficient, debts may be mounting, or unexpected responsibilities may be overwhelming them.

These are real problems that require practical solutions.

But when financial pressure turns into blame, contempt, secrecy, control, or constant accusations, another problem begins to emerge: the relationship itself is now under pressure.

The husband is no longer simply concerned about spending; he sees his wife as irresponsible.

The wife is no longer simply concerned about financial security; she sees her husband as controlling.

Soon, they are no longer discussing the money. They are defending their identities, questioning each other's intentions, and keeping score.

And the original problem becomes even harder to solve.

So, what is the wiser approach?

Learn to separate the financial problem from the person you are solving it with.

Instead of asking, “Who caused this problem?” begin by asking, “What exactly is the problem, and what can we do about it?”

Instead of saying, “You are always wasting money,” try, “I'm concerned that our current spending pattern may affect our ability to meet our goals. Can we look at it together?”

Over 1000 registrations so far…it closes on Tuesday

I firmly believe that when a man or woman gets it wrong in relationships and marriage, the entire family system can be affected, and sadly, innocent children often bear the consequences.

This is why, for the past 7 years, I have gathered ladies yearly to teach them how to get it right in relationships.

I wake up to messages saying, “Thank you, TMA, for GIR,” and I cannot describe how much that blesses my heart.
