Can’t quite identify the emotion I’m feeling after these long weeks, other than thankful that I had a tough, patient and resilient partner to weather the storm, adapt and persevere. The game is finally on the fucking Telly, Allan. xo by @tophersargent

Throwback to a couple of hours I spent with @aleksandrovechkinofficial in Harlem ten years ago.

I can say with certainty he is more a fan of one timers than what ever you call this rope work we did.

Amazing dude. Effortless.

As parents, we put our children in sports to foster motivation towards team work. To learn how to lose as much as win, and how to respond to BOTH with continued and consistent energy upward.

So far this early season Otis’ team has had some ups and some downs… winning, losing, some drama and controversy, and a lot of learning about trust and the optimal route through all of it, together.

On that route these children have experienced all of the aforementioned. They learned how to lose and responded to it. And slowly… they started to trust in each other as a team.

Today, those seventeen kids and the five men we’ve trusted to guide our children won their first tournament of the season. Those men never once have been anything but supportive, positive and patient with the kids throughout a fairly tumultuous journey. The kids aren’t judged. They are taught. They aren’t “passionately" screamed at, they are worked with. These men stepped up wonderfully for these kids amidst it all.

I’m willing to bet all twenty-two of them could have taken an easier route at some point along the way. But they didn’t, they persevered. And this... is why they succeeded.

As they move forward I’m reminded of a quote to remind ones self about the dangers of validation upon the on-set of success.

"When you are not practicing, remember somewhere someone is practicing, and when you meet them, they will win.”

Blunt, and accurate.

It all starts now, dudes.

Tomorrow is a new day. I’ll learn. I’ll work harder, and more importantly more joyfully. All that, and keep my eyes peeled for silver linings at the end of the day as storms roll in. by @tophersargent

I wonder what the old boy would be up to today.

I reckon not much. But most certainly it would involve a smile, an abnormally loud laugh or two, way too much teasing, much complaining, four insanely loud sneezes, a pack of smokes, a coffee with dinner, more complaining about the prices on the menu, lasting eye contact with attempted and achieved reason… and 10-14 hours of hard work.

Happy birthday, Pops. Miss you lots. Love, Pancho. by @tophersargent
