Nike Mars Yard 2.0 - Sz 10.5 USED OG ALL - $1,000 • History of the Sneaker - Back in 2012, contemporary artist Tom Sachs partnered with Nike to build a shoe for Tommaso Rivellini—a NASA mechanical engineer who invented the airbags for the Mars rovers. The original 1.0 version featured NASA-grade Vectran fabric, but there was a catch: it literally broke like a paperclip if you creased it too much. Instead of ignoring the flaw, Tom leaned into it. After 5 years of intense daily wear-testing at his NYC studio, they dropped the updated 2.0 in 2017. The 2.0 swapped out the space fabric for heavy-duty polyester warp-knit mesh, added premium Maple nubuck, and introduced that iconic cork insole designed for wearing the shoe completely sockless. Size 12 / Used lightly / no box - $786 • • • History - Released in December 2018, the sneaker was born from a collaboration between Jordan Brand and the Miami-based boutique SoleFly. It was specifically designed to celebrate the annual Art Basel Miami Beach art fair. The colorway pays homage to the local Miami Hurricanes sports teams, utilizing a premium leather blend of sail, dark green (Fir), and team orange. Hidden details include “MIA” and the Miami area code “305” stitched onto the inside of the tongue tags. The sneaker was scheduled for a surprise pop-up drop on December 8, 2018, at a secret location in downtown Miami. However, the secret location (the E11EVEN nightclub) was accidentally leaked on Twitter ahead of time. Massive crowds immediately swarmed the venue, creating an unruly environment that eventually escalated into minor rioting. Due to severe safety concerns and an injury to a responding officer, the Miami Police Department shut down the event in full riot gear before any pairs could officially be sold on-site.
