POV: You are temporarily teaching in a school.

The children struggle. They look at you and say “Aunty, I don’t know how to write it.”

It breaks your heart because you know they CAN.

So you change their language. You say: “Don’t say you don’t know how to write it. Say I KNOW how to write it.”

You repeat it until they believe it.

And then one day, one Nursery 1 child …the same one who always said he couldn’t, he picks up his pencil and writes. And writes well.

That’s my win this week. Not big, but mine. And I’m celebrating it. 🕯️❤️

Teaching Nursery 1 and Secondary Literature is stretching me, but moments like this make it worth it.

AREWA : 11th July, 2020

I found this in my 2020 book today.
For every Ajoke mi, Morenikeji, orekelewa that made a young heart do tikuteke tikuteke. ❤️

I was learning how to say “I love you” without saying it.
Do not give deaf ears to my proposal …that was the whole prayer.

I posted it then, and I’m posting it again now because 5 years later, my heart still craves the same thing.
