Answering questions from the Energy Select Committee in Parliament this week, Secretary of State for Energy Security & Net Zero, Miatta Fahnbulleh committed to implimenting a plan to protect North Sea jobs not just in the north east of Scotland, but across the country and industry.

North Sea jobs support communities up and down the country, including our own and having a plan in place to ensure current jobs are protected and future jobs are explored is exactly what the industry needs.

In the Commons this morning the Leader of The House , the Rt Hon Alan Campbell and colleagues joined me in expressing deep condolences to the families and communities affected by this week’s fishing tragedy.

Last night I was on An Là talking about the changes the Government are implementing regarding heating oil. In addition to the £300 help for households that has been running, these new changes mean that heating oil customers benefit from much stronger regulation and protection. Other measures include reducing the minimum quantity of oil that you can order ensuring you can order what you can afford, and that there should be a way to pay monthly rather than in one lump sum to make payments more manageable.

It is easy to do, you can get a leaflet locally or online or if you are unable to make a box yourself, you can donate £28 online and gift two shoeboxes that way instead.

📣Use your voice...I was very happy to welcome to Westminster pupils from Sgoil Ghàidhlig Ghlaschu. It was a long day for them - travelling from Scotland in one day. Schools that are far from London can access extra support to visit Westminster; it would be good to see island schools here - get in touch if you would like to visit. by @torcuil

Celebrating National Cadet Week 2026

It was a privilege to meet the @1hldrsacf Western Isles Company on their training weekend in Benbecula recently and an honour to have them as the uniformed representatives at the St Valery commemoration earlier this summer.

I look forward to visiting again and hopefully meeting over Remembrance week.
